LONDON - Kemunculan seekor kucing di tengah padang Anfield ketika Liverpool menentang Tottenham Hotspur yang berkesudahan seri tanpa jaringan dalam aksi Liga Perdana Inggeris semalam, menjadikan haiwan tersebut selebriti di internet.

Gelagat kucing tersebut menarik minat pelayar internet yang mencecah 17,368 orang yang mengikuti laman sosial Twitter, One, @AnfieldCat setelah rakaman video aksi kucing berkenaan disiarkan.

Berita terbaru yang ditulis melalui laman sosial tersebut turut mengaitkan musuh ketat Liverpool, Everton dalam satu lawak jenaka iaitu: "Everton dikhabarkan berminat untuk menandatangani khidmat saya, Bill Kenwright (pengerusi Everton) perlu 'mencakar' untuk mendapatkan duit."

Peminat Liverpool, yang terkenal dengan sikap lucu mereka, menyanyi beramai-ramai dengan memasukkan perkataan kucing dalam nyanyian mereka iaitu "Seekor kucing, seekor kucing... seekor kucing, seekor kucing, seekor kucing ( A cat) dalam nada lagu Kop Battle Cry yang biasanya menggunakan perkataan "Serang... serang (Attack)

Aksi kucing tersebut kelihatan cukup bersahaja dengan berlegar di tengah padang sebelum steward Anfield membawanya keluar. - Reuters

Manchester United and Liverpool face a battle with Inter Milan to clinch the signing of Brazilian teenage star Lucas, according to reports in Italy.

Sir Alex Ferguson and Kenny Dalglish have been strongly linked with a move for the Sao Paulo midfielder who is regarded one of the best young talents in South America.

Lucas has already made his breakthrough into the Brazil senior side and is expected to make a big money move into Europe during the summer.

Reports in Italian newspaper Tuttosport are now suggesting that Inter Milan have made contact with the Brazilian club and hope to finalise a move for the 19-year-old.

Sao Paulo will be looking for at least ￡30m for their star player but a bidding war could make the price go even higher at the end of the season.

Liverpool are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita in a summer deal worth ￡2million.

The 32-year-old Malian has been a key member of Pep Guardiola's squad since signing for the Catatan giants back in 2008, but has never been a regular starter.

And the signing of Cesc Fabregas in the summer and the emergence of Thiago Alcantara has pushed him further down the pecking order.

Liverpool are short of cover and experience in central midfield and Keita could well be the ideal man to bolster their options.

Keen to secure regular first-team football as his career draws to a close, Keita - currently away at the Africa Cup of Nations - would be open to a move to Anfield.

Reds face Ajax in semi-final

Liverpool's youngsters will take on Ajax in the NextGen Series semi-final after they beat Barcelona 3-0 in Spain.

The Dutch side produced an impressive performance to beat the much fancied Catalan outfit.

All the goals came in the second half through Viktor Fischer (2) and Rowenden Schoop.

Marseille take on Inter Milan in the other semi-final clash. The Italians knocked out pre-tournament favourites Sporting Lisbon in the quarter-final.

No date or venue has yet been confirmed for the semi-final fixture.
