Rafa Benitez defends Kung-fu Crouch. Is he blind or just insane?
Beardy Spaniard Sir Rafael of Benitez seems to be one calamari short of a paella. Maybe its the pressure of his cheapskate American bosses rooting around the Anfield sofas to find any loose change, but he has lost the plot.
Rafa is defending 7'9" striker after his red card last night. Was he watching the same game? Surely such a tackle can not be defended. Why can't managers just come out and say their own players are out of line sometimes. It'd make their moaning when a real injustice has been done, seem a bit more worthy.
Rafa's very long man was sent off for a lunge at Mikel John Obi, which effectively ended the contest, with the Reds 1-0 down. The BBC are reporting that Benitez believes Crouch was provoked and said: "That decision finished the game. Mikel tried to kick Crouch twice. That is the reason Crouch lost his head. If the referee blows his whistle before, you avoid the sending off."
