Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich won't bomb Avram Grant out of the club should he decide he is not the man for the manager's job at the end of this season.
The Independent says if he is replaced as manager, he will be offered the opportunity to return to the role he first took at Chelsea - as the director of football. |

Giuly: Ten Cate's Always Been A Bully
After Henk ten Cate admitted to a training ground bust-up with Chelsea's John Terry, former Barcelona player Ludovic Giuly says it's no surprise: the Dutchman's always been a bit fiery
And reports suggest that Terry isn't the only Blues star to have had a run in with the fiery Ten Cate since he arrived in West London from Ajax in October.
According to Ludovic Giuly, the now Roma winger who worked under Ten Cate at Barcelona, the Dutchman was involved in several training ground spats with the likes of Ronaldinho and Henrik Larsson, where his arrogant and intimidating manner didn't go down well with many.
Nevertheless, Giuly also said his approach could serve its purpose. "The problem at Barca when he left was that we missed the good old rollickings which Ten Cate used to give us when we knew they were needed," said the Frenchman. "He was ferocious but there was method in his mad rages.擺/b]
Jeffrey Van As, a former NAC Breda star who played under Ten Cate several years ago, was similarly critical of his methods. "He told me that he didn抰 like me as a player and that he was going to replace me," he told The Sun of the Dutch coach's ruthless approach. "When I got injured he brought someone else in and I never played again for Breda.
"But I have to say that every club he has coached have performed worse after he left," he added. 揑t is a very all-or-nothing way of operating and it only works for a couple of years. There抯 no doubt he抯 a great coach but he抯 also a strange guy. |
