until now kimy akan sumpah seranah dia if they used their scholarship shopping kat mark&spenser/primax tuh..travel with ur own money is more priceless, my dear...enjoy ur own hardwork..
not rakyat's hardwork...kimy bayar cukai banyak giler last yr - beribu kene..
soooo if i got a chance nampak these ppl shopping around - i will straight tell them..
if u think u want to spend rakyat's money - get off from this place..it is my money that u r spending!!

let's see.

tak kisah laa belajar kat memana2 ...
mmg laa belajar kat obersea tuh priceless...
tapi kalau balik sini mengganggur jugak - jadik bahan umpatan..
buek habeh boreh yo..priceless ker tuh?

your experience doesn't always guarantee you a job. but that doesn't mean your experience is worthless.

some of my colleagues yg sama office (obersea grad) - tak pon pandai speaking..

believe me i've seen that kind of people. mostly malays. when they get here they live among malays. they do everything with malays. they don't mix around with other people. and that's a waste.

takpulak jadik scorer...hutang mara pon tak bayar...priceless again?
hmm..thinking about that..it is priceless if u can return whatever u hv received...

i'm not sure if u actually understand what 'priceless' mean.
tak bayar hutang mara has nothing to do with your experience.

if u spending ur scholarship to hv fun (e.g. shopping, travelling)...u r wrong!!
itu semua duit rakyat..not yours...priceless again?
think about that!

what are u trying to say? i get my scholarship money, i spend it for food, and books primarily. and i use the extras (plus my own salary) for fun, saving, and to help my mom. what is wrong with that? what does it have to do with the exposure i was talking about?

for my case, kalo tetiap hari makan luar sebab busy, yes, it's just cukup makan. but it may depend on the city.
here in LA, sponsor baya sewa rumah, sebab dok on campus. pastu dapat $400. makan dalam lebih kurang $10 sehari. i also work 18hrs/week. dapat la dalam $600+ sebulan. and that's where the real money for fun comes from.
but yang aku tau la, duit sponsor kasi usually memang cukup untuk makan, walaupon cukup cukup jek. but normally orang keja utk cari duit lebih, ataupon salah budget duit scholarship.

yeah, as i said, many malay students dont use the opportunity sebaik baiknya. dorang dok berkampung jek. dok ngan orang asing tak semestinya kite kena ikut budaya dorang. but it's a good opportunity to learn about each other.

one of the things that i like about being here is the freedom of speech, and how much ideas can be exchanged with it. in a writing class, i wrote a paper that criticized the national leader. outside class, i could see a pro-Palestine booth (that was surprisingly runned by white americans) and a pro-Israel booth, both with opposite ideas, but peaceful nevertheless. I also saw an open demonstration against the University the other day, organized by her own students. during the election season, i saw a political debate participated by leading candidates of the opposition to find their top candidate, telivised nationally. i saw students helping out the party of their choice, for the love of their country. in class, i've had the chance of learning from a NASA astronaut, from a former CIA agent, from a dancer of Dirty Dancing. i am in the country that is hated by most muslim world, but i'm still treated like anyone else so far. i've learnt from an Arab as well as a Jewish professors, who give me good grades for my performance, who like me for my personal merit, rather than religion or political view.

those are just a few of the things that you can't really get in Malaysia, for various reasons (that includes the govt's policy). and i've been to a malaysian university. aku bukan nak pandang rendah kat University malaysia, but i believe we still have a long way to go.

so should i say the experience is worthless?
i dont get it. so it's people's money. so is it wrong if i say the that the experience i get is priceless? i'm grateful, is it a crime?
i wonder if people really understand what "priceless" actually mean.

it seems like what you mean by attitude is that of some people who thinks they're way better than anybody else just because they graduated overseas. now that's a different story. merely cherishing your experience doesn't mean you're being condescending.

back to the basic..where ever we are..we seek for knowledge..some may study local and some end up abroad..we can never justify who is better by looking at where we graduate from..in the end of the day..your result matter most..no point being abroad with a crap result..waste of tax payers money..same apply with local unive..good thing PTPN vouch for result these days..make people taking study seriously..same goes with MARA blacklisting those who ran from the responsibility to pay back their loan..manner wise..regardless where you study..same problem occurs..not to be bias but oversea grad may work abroad..while most malaysian degree would not make that far unless to further study..local grad however may 1 semester of practical placement while our oversea's friend may not have such experience..so who's the best now?the best lies in you...ask yourself are you an excellent student right from the beginning?should you happen not to be the category, have you done everything to rewrite your history...for a better place to study?for a better result?..only you could answer..if i graduated from oversea..why the guy graduated from local has a better life than me measured in monetary amount?if i graduated form local university..why didnt i score and apply scholarship to do my master abroad?..good thing comes for those who wait..you may miss the opportunity to study abroad today..but the next 4-5 years you'll have chance to do so should economy condition prevail..for those who being sponsored right all the way to success, have you get the highest result?...dont worry..only you..and you know how are you doing..have you achieved your lifelong target...very best of wishes for your future undertakings..

there are Malaysian students who graduated overseas that are the symbol of failure, there are those who did very well.
there are students graduated from local U's who do better than overseas graduate in their post-graduate careers, there are those who don't.
being graduated overseas does not ensure lifelong success, that's a fact. your experience may or may not contribute to your success.

but when i said that my experience here is priceless, i'm not implying i'm better than anybody else. i just love my experience. nothing wrong with that. and i have been to a local university, and in most ways, i prefer my experience here. don't tell me it's "berlagak" simply because i'm using my freedom to prefer something.

but i know when i come back a lot of people will misunderstand me. if i dont like direct exposure from the sun people will think i look down on our climate because i've been to cold places, when the fact is, i've always hate any temperature outside 20-27 centigrade. if i think our our politics suck they'll think i'm too Americanized, when the fact is, i've always think that way.

there are people who actually hate their own people, literally. i've seen such people.

Agree with BD, oversea experience is indeed priceless. The fact that some oversea students failed to fulfil their responsiblities towards the people, does not change the fact that the experience itself is priceless. Islam also urge its people to travel and see the world. That's why our friend here still willing to spend his hard earned money for a holiday stint at UK though he is not that compatible with oversea graduates. However, this does not simply means oversea graduates are better than the locals becos the quality of a person lies within the person itself no matter where he/she resides in this world becos the fact that Allah is fair to everybody in this world.
