JOM MUNTAH BACE....

CHELSEA V ASTON VILLA - Paul Dutton with the seasonal stats.

Following three successive victories at the end of November, December has seen Aston Villa gaining only two points from a possible 12.

Aston Villa are unbeaten away from Villa Park in six matches. Their last away defeat, and the only away one in 14 games, was at Eastlands against Man City in September.

Chelsea have been beaten twice in 20 games in all competitions under Avram Grant in a run that has seen 14 wins and 15 clean sheets.

Chelsea are unbeaten in the last 42 games in all competitions when scoring the opening goal - 39 wins, three draws. The last reverse was at Tottenham in November last year.

William Gallas's at the Emirates and Tim Cahill's goal for Everton six weeks ago are the only goals we have conceded in 990 minutes of Barclays Premier League football.

Villa have scored 18 second half goals in Premier League matches this season. Only Arsenal have exceeded that with 23.

Only Portsmouth (18) have scored more away league goals than Aston Villa's 15.

Villa's last victory at Stamford Bridge was the last game of season 2001/02 a week after our FA Cup final defeat by Arsenal. Aston Villa won 3-1. Peter Crouch, Darius Vassell and Dion Dublin scored their goals. Eidur Gudjohnsen scored a penalty in reply.

Chelsea have played 28 games in all competitions. We have won 17, drawn eight and lost three. We have scored 45 goals, conceded 17 and have kept 17 clean sheets. We have failed to score against Blackburn, Fulham and Valencia at home and away to Arsenal, Aston Villa, Man Utd and Schalke.

Aston Villa's best season in the Premier League is runners-up in 1992/93 with 74 points ten behind champions Man Utd and two above third placed Norwich. Their last championship win was in the old First Division in 1980/81. Their most recent major piece of silverware is the League Cup in 1996.

Frank Lampard is a goal away from becoming Chelsea's eighth centurion in goals. He currently has 99. On Sunday against Blackburn, he played his 350th appearance for the club in six and a half years since joining from West Ham in June 2001.

Chelsea have Ricardo Carvalho, Michael Essien and Frank Lampard on four domestic bookings. A yellow card against Villa will result in a one-match ban against QPR in the FA Cup on January 5th.
