Man City boss Stuart Pearce on Bernardo Corradi's sending off:
"I have no complaints about the sending off.
"Bernardo went down a little bit too easily and I am not like the other 19 managers, who would sit here and give you a load of cock and bull about it. :lol

"I would prefer him to stay on his feet and I intend to speak to him about it this week. Hopefully then, he will stay on his feet."

Bolton 4-0 West Ham

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce:
"I'm absolutely delighted because we'd lost two games and we've found goals difficult to come by.
"To get four today, with the front three all scoring, was terrific. It wasn't as easy as it looked, West Ham put up a good fight.

"Our finishing was high quality and it's a big victory. Hopefully it gives us the confidence to go on a run."

West Ham boss Alan Pardew:
"Bolton were very very good, unfortunately we were the opposite. We were very stretched at the back.
"We battled hard and tried to play - sometimes we overplayed. But, having said that, this was a fair result.

"We are going to need some strong characters to bounce back after this result - we are in a tight spot. As a team we were not good enough today."

Pardew proud of Hammers

Alan Pardew has spoken proudly about his time at West Ham United and wishes the club's owners success in the future.

"I am proud of my achievements at West Ham United," he said in a statement to the club's official website. "When I took the helm they were in the Championship and struggling to find direction.

"In two consecutive seasons we qualified for the playoff final, ultimately achieving the Premiership status the club so richly deserve.

"I am also proud of our first season back in the top flight in which we finished ninth and came so close to winning the FA Cup."

Pardew spoke fondly of the backing he received from the club's fans during his time in charge.

"The supporters have stood by me and I will always cherish memories of their support and loyalty during the difficulties of this season.

"I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart. They really are a special set of fans."

Lastly he had a special word for the staff at the club and wished them the best for the future.

"I am proud most of all of the players, many of whom have developed into top Premiership performers under the tutelage of myself and my backroom staff.

"The coaching and medical staff at Upton Park are second to none and I want to wish the new chairman, Eggert Magnusson, and the club every success."

Where did it all go wrong for West Ham?

After West Ham disposed of last season's hero Alan Pardew, eurosport.com asks: where did it all go wrong?

Pardew left Reading for West Ham back in 2003 in acrimonious circumstances. As the Berkshire club attempted to obtain an injunction to prevent him taking over at the Hammers, many wondered why he went to so much trouble.

He considered West Ham an ambitious club, one with greater potential than the Royals, whom he had guided to promotion to the old division one in a six-year spell.

Given a meagre budget as the club struggled under huge debts, and remaining unpopular among a perhaps over-expectant section of the fans, he took the Hammers to successive playoff finals, winning promotion in 2004/05.

Made one of the favourites for relegation from the Premiership last season, he then surpassed all expectations in guiding them to the top half of the table and the FA Cup final, where he came within a minute of winning West Ham its first major trophy for over 25 years.

There is a clear starting point for the decay since that sunny day in May. With debts still looming, chairman Terence Brown decided the time had come to welcome foreign investment into Upton Park. Enter Kia Joorabchian, Iranian businessman and part-owner of Argentina World Cup stars Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.

When the signing of two of the most sought-after players in world football was announced - with Joorabchian still to make a bid - questions were asked, but the fans did not care. Witness the rapturous welcome against Aston Villa, when Tevez made his debut.

Since that moment, West Ham have almost become a running joke in football and the media. As they endured their worst run for 70 years in the league and Joorabchian stalled repeatedly with his takeover, there was daily speculation about Pardew, the new signings and the direction in which the club was headed.

Indeed, it was reported that one of the sticking points of the bid - although not confirmed - was the future of the man who had brought back the good times. Would new money mean a new boss? A coach to placate the foreign arrivals maybe, such as Sven Goran-Eriksson?

When the consortium headed by Eggert Magnusson eventually took control, it appeared that Pardew would be given the chance to turn things around. Since then three games were lost with a total of eight goals conceded, and none scored in reply.

That was unexpected, the gutless 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Bolton at the weekend the last straw for Magnusson and Co, even so early into their tenure.

The new owners clearly wish for a completely new start, a clean slate with which to build up the club. Whether Tevez - who at times seems to be performing in spite of his team-mates - or the noticeably absent Mascherano will remain beyond January is open to question.

What is not in doubt is that the club has changed. In terms of how it is viewed from outside, how it is run and now the nature of the man in charge.

Who that will now be is also open to question, but most importantly for Hammers fans perhaps is the type of manager. If indeed mister Eriksson swaggers into East London, citing his Serie A record and promising to ignite the potential at the club, expect big changes in the make-up of the squad.

They will be paid for in full of course - the good news being that money worries are no longer an issue - but whether they will add anything amid the current turmoil is debatable.

If the bookies' favourite Alan Curbishley is brought in - or a similarly traditional English-type manager - he may advance the good work done by Pardew in the last years.

Basically put, the identity of the club is at stake. The fans in the stands, paying more money for tickets then they have ever had to before, are struggling to make a conenction between the club of yore which famously won the World Cup for England and the one suddenly born as a multinational company.

If Magnusson wants to remain popular with them, he would be wise to look back over a few decades and make a choice that reflects what he sees.

The problem is, perhaps he has just made the worst one of all.
