Jovetic flattered by Red Devils link

Stevan Jovetic has revealed that he is delighted to be linked with Man United but stresses he is happy to stay with Fiorentina.

United have reportedly been scouting Jovetic after his impressive performance against Liverpool in the Champions League.

Jovetic was prominent in the game, scoring both goals in La Viola's 2-0 victory over the Reds which has spawned rumours of interest from Europe's top clubs.

The 19-year-old is ignoring the speculation and claims he has not plans to quit the Artemio Franchi.

"I read about the transfer stories around me and am honoured by Manchester United's interest, but I am very happy in Florence," Jovetic told Serbian daily Blic.

"At Fiorentina I have everything I need to grow and improve as a player. I have a contract with the Viola for another five years and I have no intention of leaving."

Jovetic also admitted he was still coming to terms with his performance and his side's recent win over Liverpool.

"Beating Liverpool was surreal. I'm still dreaming," added Jovetic

"I am convinced the victory against Liverpool will be remembered for a long time.

"Now we have an advantage over Liverpool, but there are still four games to play."

Julio Cesar dismisses United link
By Soccernet staff
Inter Milan goalkeeper Julio Cesar has denied speculation he is set for talks with Manchester United over a move to the Barclays Premier League.

Julio Cesar is widely regarded as one of the world's best goalkeepers and reports suggest United will do their utmost to prise him away from the San Siro in January to replace the ageing Edwin van der Sar, following a number of poor performances from Ben Foster.

The Brazil international's wife revealed that a "big club'' have made enquiries but Julio Cesar has dismissed her comments.

"I deny everything,'' he said. "I have a contract with Inter.''

Meanwhile, Inter have also rubbished the reports and technical director Marco Branca claims the club are working on a new deal for the 30-year-old whose contract runs to 2012.

"We are already working on a solution,'' Branca said. "Soon his contract will be sorted out.I don't see any problems, the discussions are continuing in a calm way.''

According to Julio Cesar's agent, United are interested in the Inter number one, but Josias Cardoso is confident of putting an end to speculation shortly by agreeing a new deal with the Serie A club.

"United showed their interest for Julio but until now have not made an official offer,'' he said. "At the moment we are talking with Inter to renew Julio's contract, but we have not yet arrived at an agreement. I hope to succeed before the end of the month, that's my aim.''

Julio Cesar's wife, Susana Werner, claimed yesterday he was being courted by one of the European greats.

"It's been a week of great emotions,'' she wrote on her blog. "My son celebrated his seventh birthday, while my husband was besieged by offers from a big club and that has made us happy. We don't intend to leave Milan but anything can happen in football.''

Meanwhile, the agent of Julio Cesar's Inter team-mate Maicon has claimed that United are also showing a keen interest in the right back. The Brazil international joined Inter from Monaco in 2006 and has developed into a key player in the Nerazzurri team since Jose Mourinho took over two years ago.

"United's interest in my client is not something new,'' Antonio Caliendo told Tuttopremier.it. "They have been following him for a while. Now it seems to me that they are pressing for him but I don't think there has been any concrete offers yet."

Saha admits to mental problems

Everton striker Louis Saha has confirmed that he was struggling mentally during his injury-blighted seasons with Manchester United.

Saha had numerous injuries and fitness issues during his stint with United before moving to Everton in 2008.

The Frenchman admits that he suffered with mental issue about his self-worth when dealing with his time on the sidelines.

He said in L'Equipe: "Today, when I think about that period, I laugh. But it is true that at that time I was depressed.

"In the eyes of my United team-mates and fans, I felt there was some worry each time I came back from injury.

"They were scared I would suffer a relapse, so I worried more."

However, Saha stressed that the decision to leave Old Trafford, who he joined from Fulham in  2004, was a painful one.

"It was very, very difficult to leave United," he added. "I thought about it a lot because I didn't want to make any mistake with the choice of my new club."

But Saha has no regrets about moving to Goodison Park and says that his camaraderie with his current team-mates is even more valuable than the seven goals he's scored in all competitions in the current campaign.

"Frankly, I don't care about the goals," he said. "What I enjoy is the training with the other players and having the same feelings as my team-mates and I don't ask myself if I will experience a new injury.

"Before, I had the feeling that I was different from the others. It is not the case anymore.

"Still being on the pitch after so many injuries proves I am mentally strong. I am one of the miraculously saved players."

Manchester United could be thrown into financial turmoil if the Glazer family leave the club, former chairman Martin Edwards has warned. Despite United completing a hat-trick of Barclays Premier League titles and reaching successive Champions League finals, the Glazers remain almost £700million in debt owing to enormous annual repayments on the money borrowed to buy the club in 2005

Le Havre dispute United Pogba claim

Le Havre have denied Manchester United's claim that FIFA have cleared Paul Pogba to move to Old Trafford.

The two clubs have been embroiled in a bitter feud over the teenager and the issue appeared to be resolved when United released a statement last night saying they had been authorised by FIFA to register Paul Pogba "with immediate effect".

However, Le Havre insist no firm decision has yet been made by world football's governing body.

"Contrary to what Manchester United state on their official website FIFA have not validated the transfer of Paul Pogba but, as they normally do in this type of case, have issued a provisional international certificate," read a statement on Le Havre's official website, hac.infoceane.com.

"The decision of the international body is therefore a non-event and is normal procedure."

Pogba has been caught up in a battle between United and Le Havre, which appeared to have similarities with the case of Gael Kakuta, which landed Chelsea with a ban on signing players for the next two transfer windows.

Le Havre insist financial inducements had been offered to break a contract, something United immediately denied - citing the fact he did not have a deal in place.

It was a stance reinforced by manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who insisted it has never been club policy to pay the parents of players, as had been alleged.

The Ligue 1 club have vowed to keep on fighting, confirming they will take the case to FIFA's Dispute Resolution Chamber, and have issued United with a warning over being too complacent on having secured international clearance for the 16-year-old.

The statement added: "This procedure has moreover been followed in cases such as those of (Charles) N'Zogbia or Kakuta and today we know the result of each one of these cases."

N'Zogbia was a Le Havre player when he signed for Newcastle in 2007, although he mistakenly believed he was a free agent.

Le Havre took the player and Newcastle to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and both had to pay the French team a total of £640,000.

United claimed the judge decided Pogba was still an amateur because he had never received anything beyond normal expenses to play for the club.

And, because of his age, Le Havre could not have got an agreement for him to sign a professional contract anyway.

A statement released by the English club last night read: "Manchester United is pleased to confirm that the Football Association has been authorised by FIFA to register Paul Pogba as a Manchester United player with immediate effect."
