okeh kawan2..thnaks for the info...ari tu bawak anak sulong i pegi jumpa paedeatrition (whatever the spelling is..he he) ...i kasik tau la..dulu2 anak i minum enfagrow...tapi dia terover lasak..so i dah tukar dumex 1+ yg perasa cokelat la...madu la.....(tapi masih jugak lasak..takk kurang pon)

dia kata macam gini"
budak2 yg overly active ni ada tendency utk jadi tak pandai bila belajar esok2...because when he is over active..dia tak boleh duduk diam2..cepat boring, so dia malas nak focus on what he is studying or reading (sekarang pon...anak i tgk buku tak sampai 5 minit dah buang..teletubbies tu tak payah kasik cd...paling lama 1/2 jam je dia concentrate tgk)... so it's important to give formula with DHA.... pastu dia kata DUMEX takde DHA (walaupon terpampang kat packet tu ada DHA and GLA)...dia bagi contoh cuma S26's line, JAPLO and ENFAGROW A+ , yg lain2 dia kata tak ada....

tu yg i pelik tu..rasa2 nya GROWTH pon ada DHA...dumex pon ade...so i diam ajela..maybe this child specialist was paid by the rich companies to promote susu diorang tak? ntah laa

Infant nutrition is a key to brain development. You effectively pass on key nutrients like DHA to your baby through your breast milk – or infant formula.

Studies in Australia have found that the decline in DHA intake by mothers breast feeding is resulting in lowered level of DHA in milk. Indeed, the level of DHA in breast milk has dropped by 30% within the last 14 years. In western cultures, the levels of DHA in breast milk are a quarter of the levels found in Asian countries like China and Japan.

Mother's milk is the source of DHA for the infant whose brain growth and development is most active during this time. Cognitive development or learning becomes important and DHA plays a vital role in developing the brain cells synaptic junctions which are the basis of learning.

After birth your baby's brain continues to grow and cognitive development begins by building synaptic junctions between the cells in baby's brain – this is the basis of learning. Some 6,000 – 10,000 synaptic junctions are made per cell. DHA is the main structural component at these synaptic junctions.

That's why it's so important to have sufficient for the developing infant as well as to ensure your own levels of DHA are not totally depleted.

DHA may assist with alleviating post natal depression and mood change.

If you are not breast feeding, look for milk formulas which are DHA-enriched. One recent study found that infants given DHA-enriched formula had superior problem solving ability at 10 months compared to the infants fed a standard formula. Other studies have confirmed that DHA-enriched infant formulae results in improved performance in intelligence and visual tests.

Dietary DHA is an essential nutrient and should be taken daily - the recommended intake for breast-feeding mothers is 300 mg of DHA.

Increasing your level of DHA can directly benefit your child and you

Still the best milk is BREAST MILK -->the article above maybe suitable for those who dont breastfed their baby or have low DHA level

DHA and ARA are abundant in brain and eye tissue
DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), an omega-3 fatty acid, is found in tissue throughout the body. It is a major structural fatty acid in the gray matter of the brain and the retina of the eye and is important for proper brain and eye development in infants. ARA (arachidonic acid), an omega-6 fatty acid, is the principal omega-6 in the brain and is abundant in other cells throughout the body. ARA is equally important for proper brain development in infants and is a precursor to a group of hormone-like substances called eicosanoids (e.g. prostanoids, leukotrienes and thromboxanes). Eicosanoids are important in immunity, blood clotting and other vital functions in the body.

DHA is naturally transferred to a fetus during pregnancy
DHA is first naturally provided to a fetus via in-utero transfer from its mother during pregnancy. This transfer is particularly rapid during the last trimester, a period of significant brain growth.

DHA and ARA are found naturally in breast milk
DHA and ARA are important components of breast milk. Rapid brain development takes place during the first 12 months of postnatal life, and infants who are fed breast milk, rather than standard infant formula, have significantly higher DHA levels in the brain.

DHA is correlated with improved mental function in infants
Several published studies have shown that infants fed formula supplemented with pre-formed DHA and pre-formed ARA have demonstrated an improved mental development over infants fed standard formulas without supplementation. One such study, published in the March 2000 issue of Developmental Medicine and Child Neurology shows that infants fed formulas supplemented with pre-formed DHA and pre-formed ARA demonstrated a mean increase of 7 points on the Mental Development Index of the Bayley Scales of Infant Development II, a significant increase for a study group.

DHA and ARA supplementation is correlated with improved visual function
In several studies, breast-fed term infants and term infants fed formula supplemented with pre-formed DHA and pre-formed ARA have shown more rapid rates of visual development compared to standard formula-fed infants. The advantage is equivalent to about one line on the eye chart, according to a clinical study published in March of 2000.

Neurological deficiencies are associated with premature birth and early loss of DHA supply
Premature infants who have lost the rich placental supply of DHA early, have been shown to have a greater risk for neurological deficits, such as learning disabilities, social/behavioral problems and significantly lower scores on IQ tests.

The rapidly growing infant brain needs DHA supplementation
The rate of brain growth in the perinatal period is so rapid that the baby's capacity to synthesize DHA from an essential fatty acid precursor (currently present in some infant formulas) is insufficient to keep up with the demand of the growing brain and nervous system. Studies have shown that unless pre-formed DHA supplementation is provided to formula-fed infants, their brain DHA levels are significantly lower than levels in breast-fed infants.

Baby’s sources of DHA

A mother’s blood supplies the fetus with large amounts of DHA throughout pregnancy - including the period of most rapid brain and eye development in the last trimester. After birth, the baby’s DHA levels may depend on whether mom chooses to breast-feed or formula-feed.

Breast-fed baby’s DHA levels depend on mom’s breast-milk levels

After birth, infants receive DHA from their mother’s breast-milk in which DHA is the most predominant omega-3 long-chain fatty acid. This nutritional source for nursing infants comes at a time when significant brain and eye development is continuing.

A woman’s blood and breast-milk DHA levels depend on her diet. Dietary sources of DHA include fatty fish, eggs and organ meats. The fewer DHA-rich foods a woman eats, the lower are the levels of DHA in her blood during pregnancy and in her breast-milk during lactation. It is important for women to eat DHA-rich foods before, during and after pregnancy to assure that their babies are delivered optimal levels of this essential fatty acid they need.

Women should include sufficient DHA in their diets to ensure that their breast-milk contains enough DHA. (Jensen et al, 1992) Eating 4-5 servings of cooked fatty fish weekly probably satisfies this DHA requirement. DHA levels in the breast-milk of U.S. women are among the lowest in the world and typically deliver 1/2 to 2/3 of the minimum DHA recommended for infants by an Expert Committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Studies have shown that supplementation of 200 mg DHA each day raises the DHA levels in the breast-milk of women to the levels recommended by the WHO/FAO Expert Committee. (Makrides, 1996) Women should supplement before conception, throughout the nine months of pregnancy, during breast-feeding and afterwards. Pregnancy and breast-feeding deplete a woman’s stores of DHA, and it takes time to rebuild these stores.

Sapa-2 area putrajaya/cyberjaya/seri kembangan/serdang boleh pegi kedai kat rumah kita baru bukak pasaraya L&W maju jaya kat taman pinggiran putra sec2(sebelah pasar borong)..lagi murah.

jenis dan harga susu

Anak Lin minum susu snow sejak dari kecil, try tukar susu lain tapi problem, samada cirit ker atau sembelit. Anak lin skang dah 9+ months, satu tin susu snow( 1kg) tu tahan seminggu jer, itu malam minum susu badan dan makan bubur 3 kali sehari. Tapi dia tak debab, tapi kuat laa now dah nak berjalan dah. Anak Lin yg first dulu allergic tak leh minum susu lembu, so kena minum susu soya jer sampai umur 2 tahun. Skang ni pun kena jaga makan. Yang second tu ok jer aper susu pun boleh. Tapi anak2 Lin walaupun kuat makan & minum susu badan tak gak debab2. Skang susu dah naik harga, kat kedai ubat cina selalu lin beli RM23.50, but dah naik RM25
