Bangkok ialah nama exonym bahasa Inggeris. Krung Thep nama endonym bahasa Siam. Maha tu asalnya bah ...

Interesting, I never thought of this before.
Nakhorn dalam Thai script ditulis sebagai นคร, kalau di romankan menjadi NKR/NGR - NEGARA (?)
Begitu juga Satun (org Thai sebut Setun) dalam Thai script di tulis สถุล, Roman STuL (Sentul ?)

Satu lagi Narathiwat di tulis sebagai นราธิวาส, Roman NRATiWAS (Menara Tewas ?)

Yes that's right. As you've pointed out, in Thai pronunciation, if the syllable ends with 'r' or ro ruea letter (ร) then it is pronounced 'n'. If the 'r' is at the beginning of the syllable then it's pronunciation remains r. Same goes for many other letters in Thai like 'l' (also pronounced n if at the end) as in Bhumibol (pronounced phumiphon), 'j' (pronounced 't' if placed at the end) as in Adulyadej (pronounced adunyadet). This is why Thai people say masat for massage (ma-saj).

So for Satun, it is Setul in Malay and for Narathiwat/Naradhiwas, it was known as Menara. It seems the Thai administration added 'adhivasa' (meaning wise people) to the name making it Naradhiwas. Same goes for Nakhon Si Thammarat which is spelled Nagara Sri Dhammaraja.

As you may be aware, Thai writing can either be romanised through transliteration, which begets spelling like Nagara, or transcription or RTGS system which reflects how the words are actually pronounced.
