「Possessed」 A special, chilling scene from the first episode
MBC'ssummer special miniseries 「Possessed」 (script by Go Eun-nim & InEun-ah, directed by Kim Sang-ho & Kang Dae-seon) airs tonight (8/5)amidst much anticipation.
The first episode starts offwith a prologue sequence that is a condensed montage of the drama. Therest of the episode deals with the strong sisterhood between Hana (ImJu-eun) and Duna (Jiyeon), Hana saving Siwoo (Park Geon-il) fromtrouble, and the criminal profiler Ryu's (Lee Seo-jin) first meetingwith Hana.
* Prologue
The prologue shows Hana runningout into the street, her white dress contrasting with her bloody redhands, her face stricken with fear, and her feet bare. She spots Ryuacross the street. Watching from a different side of the street isSiwoo with a determined look on his face. In this little moment frozenin time, Ryu and Hana exchange looks of tender affection before Hanasuddenly begins strangling Ryu. This scene ties in intricately with theending of the entire series and it exemplifies the unseen horror thathaunts these three: Ryu, Hana and Siwoo.
* Suicide of the student body vice president
Thestudent body VP stands on the roof of the 5-story building and performsthe saddest song Vitali's "Chaconne" on her violin. Suddenly she dropsthe violin and throws herself off the roof. As she falls, she meetseyes with Hana, who promptly faints. Afterwards, Hana keeps seeing thedead girl wherever she goes.
The role of the VP was given toChoi Su-eun, known as the "Sushi Roll Girl" due to commercials for acertain wireless service company. Having played the violin for 7 years,she showed off her skills by really playing atop the building withwires attached for safety measures. While shooting the scene where shefalls, she did it herself without a stunt double and earned the praiseof the staff. She received training for just a day before shooting thisscene, and she commented, "I was scared of hanging by the wires, but Itrusted the staff and threw myself off the building." Apparently thesight of the long-haired girl hanging in the air caught the attentionof many who lived in the neighborhood.
MBC's return to asummer horror drama after 14 years is the 10-part miniseries「Possessed」. It's about an unfair death binding the dead girl's soul toher sister, and about a criminal profiler who uses the now supernaturalgirl to fight evil - only to become the demon he once despised. Due tothe previously released trailer and the press conference, the drama isgathering much attention for showing the typical characteristics of asummer special drama as well as having never-before-seen aspects of thegenre. It airs August 5, 2009.
