Ratatouille Food-Sampling - Nicholas Teo was anxious, Sunday July 29, 2007 Taiwan
Nicholas Teo and Cyndi Wang did voice-dubbing for Pixar animation film,"Ratatouille". Who would have thought that Nicholas was ever so anxiousboth in the film itself and offscreen.
Theday before, Nicholas Teo, Cyndi Wang, Zeng Guo Cheng and the othersattended "Ratatouille" Creative Cooking Challenge. A group of 3 familyteams from different parts of the country compete against one another, inviting voice actors/actresses of the show to sample their food andact as judges for the competition.
When it was time for Nicholasto try Mi Ma Shu(a kind of dessert), he just simply swallowed themwhole. He was like the character he dubbed for, one that has no taste.A person who is knowledgeable in food delicacies, Zeng Guo Cheng, taught him to cut Mi Ma Shu in half and sample it with fruits. Thetaste will be completely different. When Cyndi Wang heard this, it wasthought to be the main point. In the end, participants from Taichungemerged as the champion, winning 5000 dollars worth of rewards andprizes.

Thursday August 2, 2007 Taiwan
Experiencing celebrities' leisure and unprecedented taste
Thisissue of Men's Joker Night Life specially invited popular "Prince ofLove Songs" - Nicholas Teo, who personally recommended mature trendleisure for readers and talked about his current situation.
Creating a whole new likeable Princely image
A"Prince of Love Songs" who came from Malaysia has always given peoplethe impression of a Smiling Boy-Next-Door with a sunshine image. However, in his latest album, "Prince", Nicholas Teo donnedhighly-priced outfits and appeared with branded car as one stunningPrince. It is undeniable that when Nicholas changed into a suit, hepossessed a sparkling Prince-like attitude. He was questioned whethersuch contrasting image closely resembles which part of himself, and heanswered, "Actually, these are part of a performance. When I was actingas a Prince, I will still make use of smiles as my expression." Afterreceiving good reviews and results from his role in Smiling Pasta, howwill he plan the weight of his performances? "Actually, I still like towork on Music, but acting has helped me alot, like trying to go in tunewith the mood during singing, or grasping hold of the theme of thesong." However, when moving on to the music in this album, he said,"The whole album is very much different from before, regardless of thegenres, the mood of the performances or my own singing techniques. Theywill give everyone a new kind of feeling." So we can hope for moremoving performances? A Smiling Nicholas clarified that he does wish todance all for the sake of doing so, but only for the purpose of addingpoints to the song when there is really a need to. Only a Prince withan attitude could give such a perfect reply!
During the processof shooting, Nicholas needs to hold a glass of red wine. This raisesthe curiosity of how Nicholas tends to relax himself most of the time."Actually, when I was not recording in the studio, attending events forpromotion, or not shooting a film, I will still think of myself asworking. Coming to Taiwan, I wish to offer my best work performance, soI wouldn't show up at any night-life locations." However, a red winebar like this is just another stage. So next time, you might meet thebrightest Smiling Prince at Will's Wine Collection.
Photocaption: Seeing Nicholas putting up a stunning pose, even his avid fan,the Wine Collection Manager got mesmerised. After the photoshootitinerary ended, Nicholas brought with him a bottle of red wine, hopingthat it could give a person who is under a lot of work pressure bettergood night sleeps.

Nicholas Teo once lost control: "Celebrities need to keep up with situations.", Tuesday August 14, 2007 Singapore
Singing and acting sensation Nicholas Teo has been approached many times
by movie companies. However, due to the roles offered being too "extreme",
they can only be rejected. Music talent Lee-Hom Wang exploded despondently
while Singer Nicholas Teo also admitted once, emotions welled up within him
and unexpectedly lost control.
Recently bringing with him the latest album, "Wang Zi" and going for promotion
activities, this sunshine lad from Kuching said, "When I first headed over
to Taiwan, there was one day when I was chatting with my friend on
the Internet, as we were talking, I cried and it lasted less than 10 minutes.
...."
As he thought back about the experience, he felt "very much relaxed after
crying". However, he still could not grasp why would those tears just flowed
without any reason.
"Actually, my character is more like feeling at ease depending on the kind
of circumstances. From the perspective of Lee-Hom's status in the music
industry, his level is much higher than mine and surely, he faces greater
pressure than I do."
Although he is not able to get a taste of Lee-Hom's pressures, Nicholas'
experience lets him know that: "As an artiste, it is important to know how
to keep up with the circumstances. On-the-job and after-work has to be differentiated
accordingly."
For instance, during work, you ought to fix your hair and make-up has to
be put on. On the other hand, when the job is over, he would wear a T-shirt
and shorts: "This is me from before. After work, I can still visit 'Mamak'
Stalls."
Nicholas Teo favours older gal-younger guy relationships, Thursday August 16, 2007 Singapore
"Wang Zi" goes on a tour and his autograph session attracted the support of 5000 fans.
NicholasTeo keep up with latest album promotion and headed over to Singapore tomeet the media and fans. He held an autograph session at Xin Da Cityand approximately 5000 fans attended the event. Fans from Malaysia alsoformed a group and thronged the venue. This caused the "Prince" to feeltheir extra care and he therefore gave a big wide smile.
The newalbum was named "Wang Zi" and Nicholas had in fact opposed the idea,"Iwouldn't say I'm good-looking or someone who's really good at singing.Calling myself a 'Prince' would make me feel very 'paiseh'."
Mostfans would probably like to know the kind of "Princess" this "Prince"is in search for. The Prince said that his "Princess" does notnecessarily have to be really pretty or having a great figure: "As longas the 'feel' is right, I will try to get to know her."
He also accepts "older gal-younger guy" relationships, but the girl could not be older than him by more than five years.
"What'scrucial is that she could not be younger than me. I have a sister whois younger by 4 years, and our relationship is very good. If she isyounger, it would feel that I'm going out with my sister."
Nicholasspends much time working overseas and would not consider long-distancerelationships: "I'm stationed in Taiwan and didn't really know I shouldfind a suitable partner over there or in Malaysia. Moreover, I can'tgive her any promise whatsoever."
Exclusive Interview with Nicholas Teo, Thursday August 30, 2007 Malaysia
MYC team got up close and personal with homeboy, Nicholas Teo back fromTaiwan to promote his latest album, Prince. Nicholas Teo, the mildmannered 26 year old singer from Sarawak is more than the good lookingboy next door. With his killer smile and down-to-earth charisma, here iswhat he has to say about his life, career and plans for the future ...
Q: Five years after winning Astro Talent Quest, how has your life changed?
A:Wow...five years..so fast!!! Since I became a new artiste tilltoday, everything is like a dream come true. I have learn many thingsabout music industry and met many people especially my colleagues andfans.Best of all, I feel very appreciative and happy being to able tomake my singing hobby a career.
Q: Now that you are a big star, do your family and friends treat you differently?
A:No..My old friends still treat me like the "old Nick".Some of them whomI have known for more than ten years don't even listen to my music ortalk about my career. When I go back to Kuching, I just relax and be myold self around my buddies. My family is very supportive of my careerand doesn't give me any pressure. My Mum keeps telling me if I feeltired or when the going gets tough, I can just come home anytime.(Thanks, Mum)
Q: Being a Malaysian, why do you choose to develop your celebrity career in Taiwan?
A:Starting my singing career in Malaysia for my first two years was verytough because of the music environment in Malaysia. People tend tojudge me a lot on my Mandarin pronunciation. In Taiwan, it is differentbecause Malaysian artistes receive very good response from them. Thisis largely because Malaysian singers like Fish Leong, Penny Tai, GuangLiang(Michael Wong) and Malaysian newbie artistes are very versatile ,well versed in music, song writing and singing. So,it is a bit easierfor me to build up my singing career in Taiwan.Though the media is notvery kind to new artistes, I am very lucky to have gone this far with alot of hard work and passion.
Q: You have recently acted in a very popular Taiwan drama series called "Smiling Pasta". How do you find acting versus singing?
A:Singing and acting are two very different things. Working in "SmilingPasta" really gave me a great sense of achievement. I felt so blessedto be the first Malaysian selected to play a big role in the drama. That was why I took the opportunity seriously and did the best I could. For my first acting debut , I spent 6 months in Taiwan just focusing onmy role. During this period of time, I put aside all my music showcaseand sports commercial to concentrate on the drama. Having seen thefavorable ratings from the drama, it was certainly worthwhilesacrifice. In fact,Some of my fans only knew me from my role in"Smiling Pasta".
Q: Any new dramas that we can look forward to?
A:Not for the time being ,as my current goal is to focus on promoting mythird newly released "rince" all over Asia. Maybe I do another dramaat the end of the year. In fact, I am currently looking over somescripts which has been offered to me. (Nick's fans!!! More reason tokeep your eyes glued to the TV...)
Q: Have you always wanted to be a singer or did you have other dreams when you were younger?
A:When I was a kid, I have always wanted to sing but I realized that itwas very tough to be a successful singer in Malaysia during my highschool years. No one can guarantee that you are going to become famouseven if you can sing very well or look handsome. That was why I onlytook singing as a hobby. Every time I went on stage, I just enjoyedperforming.
Q: Did you expect yourself to come this far?
A: Inever did expect too much but whatever happened in my life so far isdefinitely more than my expectations. Guess I have been really lucky sofar...
Q: What keeps you motivated?
A: Being Happy!
Q: Will there be any upcoming concerts for all your die-hard fans to enjoy your live music?
A:We are currently planning a very big concert in Malaysia but stilllooking for the perfect location. Since I am from Malaysia, I willkickstart my biggest concert in Malaysia, followed by China and Taiwan.(Such patriotism.....)
Q: Are you in a relationship right now?(Girls..pay full attention to this!!!)
A: No...Still looking for someone special to share my life with.
Q: Then, what kind of girls do you like?
A:Well, I like to see beautiful girls but I will rather choose a normalgirl to be my girlfriend. I am still looking for a girl to
sharemy happiness and sadness with me. When I am happy or sad, I want her tobe the first to know. More like a soul mate. (Girls ..GRAB thisopportunity to GRAB Nick!!!)
Q: Until you have find your better half, music will be your first love?
A have many things I love in life - music, family, friends, andfans. Now, I am quite contented and looking forward to meet someonespecial.
Q: We wish you all the best but I am sure you don'thave to look very far. There are many girls queuing up to attract yourattention...
A: Ha...ha...they are just queuing up for my signature!
Q: A final question for you... Any advice to all the aspiring singers and actors out there?
Af you really want to be an actor or singer, don't see it like a taskyou have to complete in life. Take it normally and prepare yourselfwith the required skills. Never expect too much and just enjoy yourself.
Nicholas Teo combined Album Promotion with Charity Work
Wednesday September 5, 2007 China
He offered a loving heart towards Children Village
Lately, "Smiling Prince" Nicholas Teo travelled to Chengdu for a three-day
"Prince" Album Promotion trip. Other than a public autograph event, he also
collaborated with the local charity group to indulge in a public welfare
activity. Every copy of his album sold will have $5 donated to "Chengdu
SOS Children's Village". When Nicholas' fans heard about this info,
they flew in from all over the country to attend this event, causing
him to feel real touched.
On the second day of the signing activity, Nicholas rushed to "SOS Children's
Village" in the early morning for a visit. The donation ceremony was intended
to commence at 10 o'clock. However, for the sake of meeting with the children
for a longer time, Nicholas arrived at the Village an hour earlier. A donation
sum of RMB2000 gathered was handed over to this Children's Village. Nicholas,
who has been often referred to as "Smiling Prince" does have the spirit of affinity,
playing games and basketball with the children, who also likes him. After visiting
the families of the village, he was deeply touched. He felt that they have
sufficient facilities and a clean environment. Every child who lives there
would feel comfortable and warm. Each family has a "Mother" who takes care
of a group of 8-10 kids, which Nicholas feels they are really great but it
is tough for them at the same time!
For this "Chengdu Tour", Nicholas felt glad to be able to work with public
welfare as a team. Although the proceeds was not much but at least, efforts
were contributed. As a person who loves kids very much, Nicholas was happy
to see that the children at the Village were so innocent and preserved the
true nature of childhood. Recently, he has also been chosen as World Vision
Malaysia's "30-hour Famine 2007" Compassion Ambassador. Apart from encouraging
those who will be taking part in the Famine on September 15th, he
will be singing songs for everyone as well! Half-a-year ago, Nicholas has
also begun supporting a kid financially, hoping that he could take this
opportunity to help more children in need.

All About the Prince, Friday September 21, 2007 Singapore
By Wen
He'sgrown from the boy-next-door to a successful actor, and has released avery successful third album, 'Prince'. Malaysian singer/actor NicholasTeo was in town recently to promote his new album, which has been verywell-received by fans locally. "Honestly, there was alot of stress whenI released the album. There were many things that we chose to dodifferently on this album, whether it was the musical style, or theimage I portrayed on the album," he reveals about the release of hisalbum.
teens had a chance to have a chat with the friendly Nicholas, and we
arehappy to report that though he's sporting the "cool" look these days,he's still the happy, friendly boy-next-door that we know and love!
Read on to enter the world of Nicholas Teo!
"Game"
It'ssaid that love and relationships are just like a game, with its ownunique rules. So... are you any good at this "Game" of Love?
No,I'm definitely not an expert at the game... probably because I haven'treally had the chance to play it very many times. I've only had...(counts) three girlfriends - my last relationship lasted
almostthree years, but ended three years ago. (Sighs) Yes, I haven't had agirlfriend in three years. And I've forgotten all the rules!
"Mistake"
Do you apologise the moment you make a mistake, or wait till someone else discovers before you apologise for your mistake?
Ifeel bad when I do something wrong very easily so if I made a mistake,I'm usually the one to apologise first, even if there's a possibility Iwould never be found out. I reckon that apologising
first showsthat you are sincere, and that you're truly sorry for what you've donewrong, so there's a higher chance of getting forgiven!
Were you like that even when you were a kid?
Ithink most kids hide everything till they're found out. But as you growolder, you learn that you have to be responsible for your own actions. You have to answer not just to yourself, but also to your family, yourfriends, and even to society at large. There really is no point inhiding from the consequences of what you've done, because it will comeback to haunt you one day.
"Prince"
InKorea, they use the phrase "Prince Sickness" to describe a guy who's inlove with himself. So which part of you do you think looks the best?
Well,"handsome" is not the first word you would use to describe me, unlikeartistes like Tony Leung or Takeshi Kaneshiro. I think it's definitelymy smile that makes me look good. The most attractive thing about me isprobably how approachable I seem to be, and a smile helps add to thatvery personable image I have. And of course, I have to thank my parentsfor giving me a set of very nice teeth. Heh heh.
"Happiness"
When do you feel the happiest?
Aftera long day of work, it feels like absolute bliss when I get to go home, take a long shower, and just relax. It could be something as simple ashaving 30 minutes to myself to go online to read the news, or watch aDVD, or listen to music. But it has to be after a really long day atwork - you won't treasure your time off it you've been doing nothingall day!
I don't. I believe in letting things happen as they come. I don't believe in regrets, or thinking about all the things that could have been if I had doen things differently. I believe that all I have to do is to give my best shot, to do my best at anything that is within my control, and leave the rest to the powers that be. After all, the most unexpected thing in my life - becoming a singer - happened out of the blue, when I was least expecting it.
Becoming a singer was a dream when I was younger, and I actually chose to study in a Taiwanese university, in the hopes that bringing myself geographically closer to the Mandopop scene would open more doors for me. But while I was studying, there was no sign that I would one day make it as a singer. Instead, the "miracle" happened after I returned to Malaysia and took part in the singing competition - a competition that honestly, I hadn't had very high hopes of winning. So I've learnt that there are some things you can't control, so why worry about them?
"Strange"
What did you find "Strange", or difficult to adapt to when you first became a singer?
It was quite a shock when I realised that I would face so many responsibilities when I became a singer. It wasn't as simple as singing a song well - there were so many considerations for every
decision that was made. Having to face the media, photo shoots, being under the spotlight... these were all things that I'd never thought about before this became my career. And even though I've been doing this for three years, there are always new things to learn in such a fast-paced industry so you could say there will always be things I find "Strange" about my job.
"Super Idol"
What do you say to critics who say that "idol" singers who don't compose songs, write lyrics or produce their own albums aren't musicians?
I think the line drawn between "idol" singers and singer-songwriters is very thin these days. The emphasis is now on being multi-talented - record companies now package and market singer/songwriters much as they do idol singers, while the so-called "idols" try to perform
their songs to the best of their abilities, and have songs that will allow them to be 'recognised' as good singers. Maintaining a balance of good music and a good marketing strategy is the only way to survive in an industry that is extremely competitive. That is my goal as well.
Fans think that being an artiste is a very glamorous job, but so much that people don't know about, isn't there?
That's so true. I love my job, but it can be tough. The worst thing about the job is that your time is never your own. With a regular job, you only have to answer to yourself, your employer, and your family. But as an artiste, there are so many jobs that are dependent on your success. Before I make a decision, I have to think about how it would affect my fans, my record company, my colleagues... it really isn't easy.
"Simple Love"
What's the simplest thing a girlfriend has done for you that made you feel loved?
I had an ex-girlfriend who used to write lots of letters and cards to me when I was studying in Taiwan. Although we could have communicated via email, but I felt that emails were too... lifeless. I loved the feeling of waiting for a letter, and checking my mailbox everyday to see if I received anything. She wrote me a letter every week, something very simple, but it made me feel so good.
"Believe"
Was there a time when you didn't "Believe" that you'd be able to survive in this industry?
I felt a little lost between my second and third albums. Many people think that I've had it pretty easy all this while, going from singing, and then to acting. But after two albums and the drama
'Smiling Pasta', I didn't know if there was anything new or interesting that I could give my fans. I felt that it was time to change, if I didn't want to be stuck in a rut. This is why 'Prince' is different, and I'm thankful that my colleagues and producers helped find a way to re-invent myself on this album.
Do you feel more encouraged by support from fans, or when you get good comments from professionals in the industry?
The fans - when they buy my albums or attend my concerts, that's the most direct way they show their support. Another time I feel their support is when they sing along with me during performances. I remember a major performance recently in Taiwan, where I sang about
10 songs, both old and new. The whole performance was like a massive sing-a-long session - the fans were singing all my songs, even those I'd never performed in front of an audience before. That was the best feeling ever.
"Goodnight, Babe"
You wrote the lyrics for the song, which are very romantic and sweet... did you look back after writing them and wonder how you came up with such sweet lyrics?
Yes! Ha ha ha. When I first heard the melody composed by Gary Cao, I realised he'd added a lullaby at the beginning, which inspired me to write something happy. When I finished writing, I couldn't believe how... romantic they were. Reading it gave me goosebumps! Heh heh.
Are you a romantic in reality?
No way! I've never been the kind of person to write sickly sweet love letters to girlfriends. I prefer to keep what I'm feeling to myself. This song was a very big breakthrough for me.
"Heart"
How do you deal with a broken heart?
I don't bear grudges, whether it's after a fight with a girlfriend or a disagreement with friends or colleagues. But I can be pretty impulsive. Here's a tip - if you're ever in an argument with me and you find that I'm losing my temper, it's best to walk away. I have a tendency to not mince my words when I'm angry - I don't think and what I say can be hurtful. That's why it's best to let me cool down, and after I think things through and if I'm in the wrong, I will apologise.
"Tears of Polestar"
"Tears of Polestar" was the closing theme for the idol drama you starred in, "Smiling Pasta". Did you learn anything useful from acting that has been helpful to you as a singer?
Idol dramas are often very exaggerated and unrealistic - things that happen in these dramas often never happen in real life. I've learnt how to exaggerate my feelings and actions in the six months of acting, and it's helped me put much more emotions into my singing. In the past, my producers would tell me that I needed to put more "feeling" into my songs, and I didn't understand what they meant because I felt I was already throwing in everything I felt. But when
I listened to the playback, I realised that I sounded flat. It's so much easier for me to express the emotions of the song through my voice now.
Finally, you've released three albums and become more popular with each one. What do your fans like so much about you?
Ever since I made my debut, I've been true to myself, and the fans can tell. I've been very lucky that my management has never made me hide who I am, whether it's in my dressing, what I say to the media, or the songs on my album. I believe that this honesty will help me, because I will be free to do what I want to, and my biggest challenger will be myself. I'm looking forward to new challenges - it might not be easy, but I will take each opportunity as a chance to grow.
