Different between Original, AP Set & Water Set

Assalamualaikum...
Ada ramai pembaca blog yang bertanyakan samada handphone yang saya jual original ataupun tidak. Ada yang bertanyakan perbezaan di antara AP set dan Original set. Justeru, saya akan tulis di sini perbezaan ori set dan ap set berdasarkan pengetahuan saya yang sederhana selama berkecimpung di dalam bisnes phone ini selama 2 1/2 tahun yang lalu. Kalau ada yang tersalah, minta maaf dan sila beri teguran.
Definisi- AP set (?Approved permit) ialah handphone yang original tetapi diedarkan oleh supplier handphone yang bukan diiktiraf oleh company pengeluar handphone. Sebagai contoh company seperti Asia Mobile, uTNT dan VSCOM, menjadi supplier untuk handphone NOKIA tetapi bukan company yang diiktiraf oleh NOKIA sebagai pengedar yang sah.
Definisi - Original set pula adalah handphone yang original dan diedarkan oleh pengedar yang sah. Antara pengedar NOKIA yang diiktiraf adalah ZITHRON, AVAXX, Midland dan iMobile dan FMG adalah pengedar Motorola yang sah. Baru-baru ini VSCOM telah menjual original hphone di bawah company nya sendiri - mungkin dah menjadi taraf pengedar sah.
Kualiti - Dari segi kualiti, AP set adalah sama dengan original set. Ada company yang menjual AP set dengan company nya bertaraf ISO. Mereka boleh buktikan ini adalah set baru dari NOKIA tetapi AP. Tetapi kadang-kadang tidak dapat dinafikan ada peniaga yang mengambil untung dengan menukar set dalaman dan menjualnya dengan harga yang rendah tetapi itu bagi saya kes yang sangat terpencil. Kalau ada? inilah Allah sebut peniaga yang bakal masuk neraka... Saya tak bersubahat ye.. Jadi kalau depa ni boleh tukar barang dalaman untuk AP set.... apa yang pula boleh menghalang mereka dari menukar barang dalaman untuk original set?
Warranty - Dari segi warranty, AP set menawarkan warranty selama setahun untuk transceiver (mcm motherboard la), tetapi hanya 1 bulan sahaja untuk battery dan LCD. Warranty pula adalah dari company supplier, bukan dari NOKIA. Nampak teruk kan? Rileksss... Company besar macam VSCOM, COMSAT dan Asia mobile mempunyai company service mereka sendiri seperti Pacific Solution dan Future Technology. Company ni memang komited untuk repair handphone dengan cepat dan cekap. Tapi service company terletak hampir dengan company yang supply. Oleh itu, kalau beli AP set di Kuala Lumpur, pembeli kena menghantar set mereka yang rosak kembali ke Kuala Lumpur walaupun mereka telah berpindah ke Gopeng atau Senawang misalnya. Tak ada Pacific solution kat senawang untuk dihantar ke sana.
Warranty - Warranty Original set datangnya dari NOKIA. Warranty adalah selama 1 tahun termasuk trasceiver, LCD dan battery. Oleh kerana kita beli yang original, tentulah kita expect national dan international warranty, jadi kalau kita beli kat Kuala Lumpur kita boleh hantar set kita yang rosak di mana mana kedai Nokia di Kota Bharu, Padang Besar atau di Golok.
Harga - Harga ap set adalah lebih murah dari original biasanya di dalam 10% - 30% lagi murah. Contohnya harga 6280 lebih kurang RM 800. Original 6280 zithron ialah RM 1000+. Oleh itu, pembeli lebih berminat untuk membeli set AP disebabkan harganya. Lebih lebih lagi set AP kadangkala disertai dengan memory card percuma.
Pilihan - AP set kadangkala tiada pilihan dari segi warna. AP set kadangkala datang dengan hanya satu warna dan menyebabkan pilihan pelanggan menjadi sukar. Memang kadangkala terdapat warna yang diingini tetapi ia kadangkala datang dalam satu warna dalam satu batch. Melalui pengalaman saya Nokia 6288 lebih senang untuk mendapat warna putih daripada hitam. 2626 datang dengan warna biru sahaja sepanjang 2 minggu kemudian oren sahaja minggu yang seterusnya. Sedangkan original set, warna merah pun ada!!.
Tambahan :-
Underwater set - pernah dahulu menguasai pasaran h/phone especially di kawasan bukit bintang dan pertama kompleks. Sekarang ini sudah tiada lagi di pasaran. Kalau tak silap, underwater set ini adalah set yang dibawa masuk tanpa cukai atau melalui pasaran gelap. Waranty pun beberapa bulan yang diberi oleh kedai si penjual.
Recon set (atau recondition) - Set 2nd hand yang di repair, upgraded dan dibarukan kemudian di jual dengan harga yang lebih murah (atau setanding harga ap set). Recon tidak setanding dengan ap set kerana ia adalah hand set yang lama. Warranty kebiasaannya sebulan, walaupun ada pekedai yang meletakkan 6 bulan atau setahun (untuk menampakkannya setanding dengan ap set). Berhati-hati dengan handset dengan harga yang murah dari kebiasaan... ada mungkin akan masuk perangkap recon!
Kesimpulannya :-
Membeli AP set atau original adalah bergantung kepada personaliti anda dan kewangan anda. Sekiranya anda mempunyai budget yang cukup, selalu berpindah randah, selalu risau terhadap kerosakan h/phone, mahu yang terbaik untuk wang anda dan seorang yang sangat cerewet tentang h/phone maka Original set adalah pilihan anda.
Sekiranya anda jenis berkira tentang wang, menjaga h/phone sperti menjaga nyawa anda, menggunakan phone sekadar untuk telefon sahaja atau berhajat membeli phone yang dibawah RM 200, AP set adalah pilihan anda.
Saya sendiri sudah memakai h/phone AP set selama 3 tahun dan tidak ada masalah yang timbul. Begitu juga ramai pelanggan saya yang lain. Anda patut risau untuk membeli Ap set sekiranya h/phone anda berharga RM 1500 ke atas, begitu juga kenapa anda perlu membayar lebih (tambahan sehingga RM 200 untuk zithron) sekiranya h/p yang ingin anda beli cuma berharga RM 400 sahaja. Pilihan terletak di tangan anda. Fikir-fikirkan.. |

my advise, don't buy hp in pertama becos normally diorang jual recon set.. (pengakuan dari penjual tu sendiri bile aku trade in my hp..) |

ORIGINAL SET
- original set ni adalah set yang dijual oleh authorized distributors....oleh company yang direct dengan nokia, sony ericsson dll...
- Nokia authorized distributors : Zitron, Avaxx and i-Mobile.
- Sony Ericsson authorized distributors : T-Choice, Grandtech, Midlands and Thorus.
- First Mobile Group (FMG) adalah distributor utama untuk Samsung phones.
- FMG bagi 18 bulan warranty.
- Motorola authorized distributor : Satellite Technics, Zitron and MDM.
- Siemens authorized distributors : Zitron and FMG.
- Panasonic's authorized distributor : Zitron.
- korang boleh repair atau claim warranty dari mane2 service center seluruh malaysia (Nokia Professional Centre, Sony Ericsson Certified Service Centres...)
- 1 tahun warranty untuk hp termasuk charger, battery, handsfree.
- alat ganti yang tulen sahaja digunakan
AP SET
- Approval Products
- biasanya di import dari luar negara dan dijual di malaysia
- antara company yang jual AP set : Final Choice, CSL, Nefion, Telstra, GTMax...etc
- biasanya 1 tahun warranty untuk phone dan 1 bulan utk charger, battery, handsfree.
- untuk service atau claim warranty kene pergi semula ke kedai yang hp yang kita beli tu
INFO TAMBAHAN TENTANG AP COMPANY
AP company can basically divided to 4 tiers.
First tier AP company such as CSL, Samart (I-Mobile) (now an authorised Nokia distributor), have close connection with real authorised distributor and have services as good as authorised distributor if not better, but their prices are slightly expensiver than most AP set, but cheaper than authorised set. They do have retail shops.
Second tier AP company, such as Final Choice (the new Final Choice, not the old management that has very bad services), Comsat & BBS provide services almost as good as authorised distributor. They even have nationwide service center. Prices are reasonable too, for AP sets. They do not have retail shop.
Third tier AP company, such as Phone Care, T&K, TelStra, SB Communication, Phone King, Aspen, MBS, GBS, HSS, ACE have only one or two service center, mostly at KL. Anything happen to your set, then u must bring it to the only one service center to claim warranty. Some of the company sub-contract their phone servicing to another company, and this will definately dragged the time to get back your phone.
Their price are much cheaper, to compete with second tier AP company. They do not have retail shop.
Fourth tier AP company, this shouldn't be called AP company (but the seller still wanna claim it's AP, not underwater) because the sets are oversea sets (underwater) or recon (re-conditioned / refurbished) set. These set are warrantied by the retail shop which sell them. If your warranty sticker bear the same company name with the shop that sell you the phone, chances that u getting recon set or underwater are very high. Example of these are V-V shop, Action & Takacom that have a big franchise shops around Klang Valley. They also sells phons by authorized distributor, phone that warrantied by genuine AP company and phone that warrantied by themselves (possibility of refurbished phone is very high).
UNDERWATER SET
-HP yang dicuri atau hp yang dibeli di luar negara dengan tidak membayar cukai kerajaan dan tidak mempunyai stiker SIRIM....
-salah disisi undang-undang
-biasanya dibeli oleh student atau sesape saje dan dijual di malaysia....
ade jugak info2 yang aku petik dari forum2 lain...malas la nak translate....sorry 
If you have an AP set with Vodafone or T-Mobile logo, it means that your phone might be locked. Those Vodafone or T-Mobile are the service operators in the UK and that's where the phones come from. Not all AP sets have the logo. AP sets are Approved Products which means that these products are certified by sirim that your product is safe to use.
In other words, AP product not brought in by the authorised distributor like Midland, T-Choice for SE, Avaxx or Zitron for Nokia, FMG for Samsung and etc. The phones can even come from Singapore and may even have the M1, Singtel or Starhub logo. Remember to check the phone if it is locked especially those from Singapore and Vodafone.
AP sets has different level of QC. Big AP companies like Final Choice, GTMAX, Nefion, Telstra, O'Connors have extensive QC checks. Others like MSL, YS, PLANTRONICS or names not mentioned above, are slightly cheaper than the above. Whether they replaced their parts with other stuff, its another question.
AP set actually pay government tax but is juz that they are not taxed by the Local Authorised Dealer. AP set is normally distributed by small handphones companies and they might stop business anytime.
Futhermore if there's major damage on your AP set, the AP companies might not have enough equiptment to fix it. At the end, they still have to send it to the authorized dealer (eg. Zitron, Avaxx).
Like what everyone else have said, a phone without a sirim sticker is considered as illegal and thus cannot be sold here. But I'm gonna assume that if the phone is not available here, it should be better. And besides, if you bought the phone from overseas and bring it back here to use, don't tell me it would be illegal to use it right?
Speaking of buying a waterset from a shop, they might say that you did not inspect it properly before buying and thus you are at fault. So yeah guys, if you wanna buy a phone, do yourselves a favor and do these few things:
Check for sirim sticker (this is a MUST. Everyone should know this).
Cross check IMEI numbers on the phone and the box
Ask for warranty card.
Ask if the warranty card needs to be sent to wherever necessary.
Check all the features of the phone (iow, play with the phone, make sure everything is working).
Check for dead pixels.
Check the firmware if possible (*#0000# for most nokias). This way, you can check if it's old stock or not.
And of course, make sure you get the propper set. As in nothing missing like the handsfree and stuff.
Sorry, deviated a bit from what is a waterset, but really, people should know these stuff to avoid getting cheated.
Btw, watersets are usually sold without accesories, only phone and charger. So sometimes if you add up buying the accesories elsewhere, it might cost near the same as buying a proper set

Identify Original and AP Set
- take out the phone case and battery.
- original set comes with authorized company sticker (Zitron, Avaxx, T-Choice, Midland...)
- AP set comes with AP company sticker (Final Choice...)
- press *#06# to check the phone 15 digit serial number (IMEI).
- compare it with the IMEI written on phone sticker (back of phone case) and package box sticker.
- for original set, these serial numbers are the same.
