Syed Saddiq comes out in support of under fire 'press-sec'

PETALING JAYA: Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman's press officer and Pride Day breaking fast organiser Numan Afifi Saadan who resigned after backlash and threats from opposition propagandists still retains the respect of the Youth and Sports Minister.

The minister heaped praises on Numan Afifi on Twitter: "Your service has been invaluable bro since our campaigning days. Stay strong and I'll always respect your decision.

"You'll always be a bro," Syed Saddiq said in a tweet.

Numan Afifi said the alleged sabotage of his name appearing as a Youth and Sports Ministry staff was regrettable and stressed that he was merely helping out.

In a statement, he said as a friend of Syed Saddiq he was merely assisting in press matters in the interim but was not officially employed by the ministry.

"I would like to reiterate the minister's statement that no official appointments have been made in the Minister's Office," he said.

"An investigation was being carried out and I was made to be understood by the minister that stern action will be taken against the culprit," Numan Afifi said.

Last week several critics made an issue out of Numan Afifi's part of as the organiser of a Pride Day breaking of fast event last year, and questioned his apparent appointment by the Muar MP.

They insisted it is inappropriate for a "champion of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual (LGBT) causes" to be a government officer.

Numan Afifi said he would be going abroad in the near future to determine his next move, adding that it had been an "honour to be in service" to the minister.

"Syed Saddiq has respected my decision and stands firm against any form of discrimination, therefore I would like to ask for these polemics not be dragged any further," he said.

sorry to say...kat ofis kerajaan bersepah lgbt dik, dipenuhi lelaki2 lembut...takder pon masalah. apatah lagi kat sekolah, ramai gak cikgu2 kunyit, takder pon isu, so what is the issue now, klu ko jantan tulen mmg takan tergoda dgn kunyit sama gak isu bergambar dpn salib...I can't brain this...tak lama g, ramai lar yg bash, tp the truth is out there.

Ahli maksiat seperti lgbt boleh gi mampus.  Nak berambus ke luar negara silakan. Even nak berambus ke NERAKA pun dialu-alukan.  Perosak spt agen lgbt tidak diperlukan di Tanah Melayu ini.
