Diarra, the player with most good passes and recoveries
Spanish sports newspaper Diario As published today a revealing news piece: Mahamadou Diarra is the player with most completed passes and ball recoveries. The stats were gathered during the first two Real Madrid Primera Liga matchdays -namely, the goalless draw versus Villarreal and the whupping against Levante. Although the 2006/07 Liga is in its infancy, Diarra's prevalence and importance in Fabio Capello's scheme is starting to be quite clear.
Although it has only been two League matchdays, Mahamadou Diarra is already standing tall as Real Madrid's new boss in the midfield. His numbers speak for themselves: in the two encounters against Villarreal and Levante, the Malian was the player who completed most successful passes among his Real Madrid peers. A total of 152 balls have successfully exited his boots, while only giving away 20.
Only in the match against Levante, Diarra scored a total of 95 good passes; that is, he practically didn't lose a single ball. Diarra leads the Real Madrid 2006-07 successful pass ranking, way ahead of David Beckham (110), Roberto Carlos (102), Sergio Ramos (96) and Emerson (94), his crony in the central midfield.
Also top recoverer
Still, Diarra's dutiful tasks go further than keeping Real Madrid's engine room up and running. His job also consists in recovering balls to either build up the game himself or pass it to a team-mate that can do accordingly. Capello has instructed him insistently in this sense, letting the African player know what the team's needs and preferences are at all times, both from a physical and a tactical standpoint. As expected, Diarra's stats are also outstanding in this department: with 19 recoveries, he leads this facet of the game, with Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro (13) placed second.
These figures come as added proof of his undeniable quality. This full package midfielder was just the ticket Capello had expected and demanded from the minute he landed in Madrid.
ok laa tu..slowly..nampak la berbaloi beli dier nehh...
