UPCOMING AUTUMN DORAMA

Ninomiya, Nishikido, Toda star in drama based on Higashino novel

The mystery novel "Ryusei no Kizuna," written by popular author Keigo Higashino, is being turned into a television drama series this fall. The show will star Kazunari Ninomiya, Ryo Nishikido, and Erika Toda, with Kankuro Kudo penning the script.

Ninomiya, Nishikido, and Toda play three siblings whose parents were murdered when they were children. After being deceived later on in life, they bonded together as a team of swindlers, stealing money from the rich. One day, they find a man whom they believe is their parents' killer, and they start planning to take their revenge.

Ninomiya is taking the lead as the oldest sibling, Koichi. Nishikido plays the younger brother Taisuke, while Toda plays the sister Shizuna. Tomokazu Miura has also been announced as a cast member.

TBS will air the drama on Friday nights at 10:00pm, starting in October.

UPCOMING ASADORA

Mikako Tabe to star in next Asadora

Teen actress Mikako Tabe has been named as the heroine in NHK's next morning drama series. "Tsubasa," first announced in April, will be the network's 80th Asadora, and its first set in Saitama.

At the age of 19, Tabe is the first Asadora heroine to be born in the Heisei era (1989-present). She was chosen by audition from a pool of almost 1,600 applicants to play Tsubasa, the daughter of a sweets shop who becomes a host on a community radio station.

Filming will start in mid-October. "Tsubasa" is scheduled to run next year from March 30 to September 26.

[DORAMA] Yonekura Ryoko excited about playing a murderer in upcoming drama



Japantoday.com reported, 揂ctress Ryoko Yonekura, 32, is relishing the chance to play a bad girl. She will appear in the special drama 揔oori no Hana擺/b] to mark the 50th anniversary of TV Asahi. Yonekura will play the role of a criminal who plans a perfect murder. The drama is based on a mystery novel by Setusko Amano, in which the pianist wife of a doctor turns to murder after she gets a phone call from his secret lover.

UPCOMING AUTUMN DORAMA

No surprise, "Aibou" extends for 7th season

A press event for the "Aibou" spinoff movie "Kanshiki: Yonezawa Mamoru no Jikenbo" was held on Friday. During the event, it was unsurprisingly announced that the popular detective drama will see its 7th season start this October, running for its usual length of 6 months. As always, TV Asahi has scheduled the show for its Wednesday 9:00pm time slot.

The first "Aibou" movie earned 4.42 billion yen during the first half of this year. The spinoff is set to open in theaters next spring.

UPCOMING DORAMA SP

Oguri meets Ganesha in drama special

NTV has announced a drama special titled "Yume wo Kanaeru Zou," starring Shun Oguri, that will be aired this winter.



The comedy is based on a best-seller by Keiya Mizuno. Oguri plays Kouhei, an unreliable salaryman who one day meets "Ganesha" (a Hindu god depicted with an elephant head), played by Arata Furuta with a Kansai dialect. From that encounter, Kouhei finds a way to turn around his life.

The drama has already finished filming. NTV has not yet announced the show's broadcast date.

Aya Ueto's "brother" to play major drama role

Talento Dante Carver, perhaps most recognized for playing Aya Ueto's brother in a series of Softbank commercials, is taking on his first significant acting role. This Monday's episode of the TV Asahi drama program "Renai Hyakkei" will have Carver playing a study-abroad student who dates the character played by Ai Takabe.



Carver has previously done a couple of minor roles, including an appearance in the "Densha Otoko" drama series.

Narumi, Narimiya together in another drama

Fuji TV has announced the production of a drama special titled "Nadeshiko Tai," based on the lives of the real Nadeshiko Tai during World War II.

The story is set in Chiran, Kagoshima, the site of a secret base used to launch kamikaze missions during the war. At the time, a group of young girls known as the Nadeshiko Tai were gathered to help out at the base. The drama will be part documentary, based on the experiences of 78-year-old Shoko Nagasaki, a survivor of the Nadeshiko Tai.



Riko Narumi is playing the role of Nagasaki at the age of 15, while Hiroki Narimiya plays a member of the kamikaze squad. The two last worked together in Fuji TV's adaptation of "Honey and Clover." Other cast members include Hiroko Yakushimaru, Emi Wakui, Yoshiko Nakada, Satomi Tezuka, and Masanobu Katsumura.

"Nadeshiko Tai" will air this September.

UPCOMING DORAMA SP

Karina, Hitomi Kuroki to star in "Real Clothes" drama

On September 16, Fuji TV will broadcast a tanpatsu drama called "Real Clothes," starring model Karina and actress Hitomi Kuroki.

The drama is based on Satoru Makimura's manga of the same name. Karina plays the role of Kinue, a saleswoman in the futon section of a department store. Despite her plain clothes and poor makeup, she ends up being transferred to the women's clothing department, where she has to be trained by her extraordinarily fashionable boss (Kuroki).

Aiko Ito stars in afternoon drama

Actress Aiko Ito has been selected to play the heroine in Fuji TV's upcoming drama series, "Aishuu no Romera." Ito is perhaps best known for her role as Abare Yellow in the TV show "Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger," though she has also had plenty of dramatic roles and variety show appearances.

In "Aishuu no Romera," Ito plays Tamaki Nanase, a woman who falls in love with the son of a hospital director, with whom her mother previously had an affair. But when she discovers that the director is the reason her mother committed suicide, she casts aside her feelings of love and becomes filled with hatred and a desire for revenge.



Actor Tsuyoshi Ujiki has also been cast in the drama. The show will run in Fuji TV's 1:30pm afternoon slot on weekdays, starting on September 29.

UPCOMING DAILY DORAMA

Takako Kato returns in "Onsen e Ikou!"

The popular TBS drama "Onsen e Ikou!" is coming back with a new season. The show has already had five seasons between 1999 and 2005. The new one, however, will take on the slightly different title "Onsen e GO!"



Lead actress Takako Kato is reprising her role as Kaoru, but the rest of the regular cast is being replaced. Like the previous seasons, the story is set at the onsen inn where Kaoru works as a staff member.

The theme song is being sung by Skoop On Somebody, with lyrics provided by Porno Graffiti's Haruichi Shindo. Broadcast begins on September 1 in TBS's "Ai no Gekijo" time slot (weekdays at 1:00pm).

Hey! Say! JUMP members reunite for fall drama

Hey! Say! JUMP kicked off the entertainment show "SUMMARY" this weekend. During the event, the group announced that members Yuto Nakajima, Ryosuke Yamada, Yuri Chinen, and Daiki Arioka will be co-starring in a drama series this fall.

In April, the four boys appeared in the NTV drama special "Sensei wa Erai!" Now, the network has reunited them for another school drama, tentatively titled "Scrap Teacher ~Kyoushi Saisei." They play a group of junior high students that transfer to a school on the verge of collapse, and they take on the role of reforming their incapable teachers.

NTV will air the drama on Saturdays at 9:00pm, starting in October.

Tackey is starring in a new fall SP drama titled Kokuchisezu


Tackey has been shooting for a new fall drama recently. It started on July 26th and the shoot will continue for another month.

TV Asahi is working with Ishihara Productions for this new drama. It has been decided that it will air sometime within this year. The story is based on an essay titled 揙retachi wa Kazoku
