Latest Korean blockbuster attracts 3 million viewers in one week
SEOUL, July 25 (Yonhap) -- The latest South Korean movie, reported to be the nation's highest budget film, has attracted three million viewers in the first seven days of its release, the film's distributor said Friday.
According to CJ Entertainment, "The Good The Bad The Weird," starring well-known Korean actors Lee Byung-hun, Song Kang-ho and Jung Woo-sung, drew 3.03 million viewers on 954 screens across the country as of Thursday.
The movie "Public Enemy Returns," which was distributed last month by the same company, crossed the 3 million mark after 14 days, while "The Chaser," distributed by rival company Showbox, reached the mark 20 days after its release in February.
"The Good The Bad The Weird," directed by Kim Ji-woon, one of the few South Korean directors to have clinched both commercial success and critical acclaim, was anticipated to be the hottest pick of the South Korean box office this summer.
Set in Manchuria with conventions of a Western, the movie depicts three men hunting for hidden treasure.

"Weird" again a winner in second week
Written by Han Sunhee
ARTICLE
SEOUL -- Local hit "The Good, The Bad, The Weird" succeeded in holding on to the No. 1 ranking at the Korean box office last weekend. According to its distributor CJ Entertainment, pic accrued more than 1 million admissions on 720 screens during its second weekend, for an 11 day total of 4.13 million admissions and a gross cume of $ 26 million.
The 'Korean Western' was the quickest movie this year to the 4 million admissions mark.
One of the other big Korean summer releases "Sunny" opened Thursday on 598 screens and grossed $5.4 million from 870,000 admissions for distributor Showbox. That put it in second place. Helmed by "The King and the Clown" director Lee Joon-ik, pic tells a story of an innocent Korean woman who becomes a 'comfort singer' in order to follow her husband during the Vietnam war.
With the two local films rampant other films didn't make much impression on the chart. Jodie Foster-starrer "Nim's Island" ranked at No.3 in its second weekend, taking an estimated $2.5 million gross from 400,000 admissions. In fourth, "Red Cliff" played on 328 screens and added 123,000 admissions during the three day weekend, lifting its cume to $9.13 million.
Having opened on July 17 and ranking at No.8 in the previous week, Japanese animation "Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's New Great Adventure into the Underworld" jumped up to No.5 with almost unchanged 60,000 admissions in its second weekend. Distributor Daewon Media reports a $970,000 cume from 154,000 admissions in two weeks, with auds mostly school kids now on summer vacation.
Still playing on 215 screens, the Kang Woo-suk helmed police procedural "Public Enemy Returns" lifted its cumulative gross to $27 million from 4,290,000 admissions.

Choi Ji-woo to Star in Korea-Japan Co-Production
Choi Ji-woo
Korea’s pan-Asian star Choi Ji-woo has been cast in a melodrama to be jointly produced by Korea and Japan. Set in Nara Prefecture in Japan’s Kansai region, “Lovers in Asuka” is aimed at revitalizing the Korean Wave or Korean pop culture craze once again. The producers wanted to cast a top actress for the heroine and finally alighted on Choi. Shooting will start in early September for airing in December.
A spokesman for Choi said the actress is devoting herself to get ready for the shooting of the drama without making any other schedules. Korean and Japanese production, broadcasting and marketing companies have joined hands for content creation, investment, production, broadcasting and distribution for the 20-episode drama.
Korea’s Olive9 will be responsible for production and Japan’s Dentsu Group for investment attraction and distribution. Nara Prefecture and Osaka University of Art have already formed a production support group for the drama and are working to come up with plans to provide systematic support.

hmm...
Tak taulah macamana nak bagi "kurang terkejut" tapi for most BH fans dari dulu lagi.. memang nak tengok dia kahwin, so nothing that bad kalau keluar berita tetiba nak langsung ...
Cuma.. tak taulah .. kalau dia nak cerita pasal his special girl.. macam dulu2.. sebab dah terkena sekali dengan media (asyik tanya pasal kahwin bertalu2 sampai break).. tu pasal BH lebih berahsia sekarang ni..
Tapi.. for sure.. dia & seluruh K-entertaiment circle memang realize pasal kes KSW-STY yang havocnya tak habis2.. nak kahwin pun susah.. berita gembira jadi berita ngeri.. katt tak pernah minat KSW tapi kesian pulak bila jadi macam ni..
Personally.. I don't think BH akan kahwin secepat yang diharap.. not this year.. maybe not next year jugak tapi semua pun bergantung pada jodoh..
Mungkin JW akan kahwin dulu..
