Penta is sometimes called "Star flower" because of the star-shape of its brightly colored flowers.

Leaves
Leaves are dark green, lance-shaped, somewhat furry and deeply veined.  
Flowers
Penta's seem to produce a never-ending amount of five-petaled flowers. These may be red, white, lavender, purple, or shades of pink. Some are even two-toned. All colors are extremely attractive to butterflies, but the red and dark pink varieties especially delight hummingbirds.
