HAMMERS TO DUMP ARGENTINES?
West Ham are reportedly set to dump Argentine duo Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano in January.
The pair have both failed to settle at Upton Park having joined the club in the summer and now Alan Pardew is reluctant to pick them.
The People understands there is a clause in Tevez' and Mascherano's contracts which allows the Hammers to terminate the deals during the transfer window.
West Ham achieved impressive victories over Blackburn and Arsenal without either player on the pitch while Tevez featured in Saturday's loss against Chelsea.
Kia Joorabchian brought the Argentines to England in a bid to takeover the club but that plan seems to have backfired and now Brazilian club Fluminense are willing to bring the players back to South America.

Pardew praises Tevez performance against champions
By Clare Lovell
LONDON, Nov 18 (Reuters) - West Ham United manager Alan Pardew said Argentina forward Carlos Tevez was finally starting to adapt to the English game after a shaky start and had shown his class against champions Chelsea on Saturday.
The 22-year-old, signed from Brazilian side Corinthians on the last day of the transfer window in August, was hailed as the key to renewed West Ham success this season but, partly because of injury, has found it hard to settle.
Before Saturday's match he had started just two of a possible 12 league matches and made four substitute appearances. He also started both of West Ham's UEFA Cup matches against Palermo but has yet to find the net for his new club.
Although West Ham lost 1-0 on Saturday, Tevez, playing on the right, proved creative down the wing particularly in the first half.
"He showed the quality which he can give to the club," Pardew said.
"We've been patient with him and he's been patient with us.
"I was bouyed by his performance today. His work rate was fantastic for a world class player. He's brought on board what we do at West Ham."
Pardew said Tevez could play most positions and that augured well for the rest of the season with West Ham aiming to climb out of the bottom half of the table.
"He's versatile. That's one of his gifts."
Pardew said the east London club were unfortunate to lose to their wealthy west London neighbours, an expertly taken free kick from Chelsea's Cameroon full back Geremi proving the difference.
"We were desperately unlucky to come in 1-0 down at halftime with the commitment of the players against the champions today," he said. "The number of crosses we got in was very rare for Chelsea at home."
While Tevez may be showing signs of finding his feet his compatriot Javier Mascherano has not played since being substituted midway through the second half of the defeat against Tottenham Hotspur a month ago and was not in the squad for Saturday's match.
West Ham have been the target of a takeover since the begining of the season which Pardew says has unsettled the side, following a fine end to last season when they reached the FA Cup final.
Pardew said he felt the matter would be resolved soon. "But then I thought that two weeks ago," he added.

Jose praises Pardew's men
By Tom Adams - Created on 18 Nov 2006
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was full of praise for West Ham after they restricted his Premiership champions to a mere 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge.
A slightly tentative London derby saw Chelsea fail to find a second strike after Geremi's outstanding first-half free-kick, but The Blues held on to remain firmly on the trail of league leaders Manchester United.
Whilst Mourinho admitted he was frustrated his side failed to find a second strike - with Michael Essien hitting the post and Didier Drogba having a goal disallowed - the outspoken boss also praised The Hammers and their under-pressure boss Alan Pardew.
"I think they played a good game, I would say [it was] a comfortable game for 88 minutes and a difficult game for the last five," Mourinho told Sky Sports.
"I think we produced enough to score a second goal and kill the game but we didn't.
"And after that we face a good team - good players, good manager, good team - and it was a difficult match because they were always organised and they wait until the last minute.
"When they felt the game was almost over they put everything [forward]. [Teddy] Sheringham, [Marlon] Harewood, [Carlos] Tevez, [Anton] Ferdinand as striker, so they gambled in the last five minutes."
Mourinho also insisted that Drogba's late strike should have stood after he was ruled offside when picking up a through-ball from Frank Lampard.
"It is always a frustration [not to score a second] because the game was a bit broken in the second half and we had a few counter-attack situations," Mourinho added.
"We had a goal offside - he was one metre behind, is not offside - and we missed some chances.
"The keeper made a save and Essien hit the post, so we should [have scored] but we didn't and after that it is important to have the strong mentality we had in the last part of the game where they gambled and we defended and we didn't concede.
"We won three difficult points against a good team."
Mourinho was also pleased with the input of match-winner Geremi - given a rare start at right-back - after his beautifully guided set-piece beat Hammers keeper Robert Green.
"He takes [a lot of free-kicks in training] but he doesn't play a lot.
"He practices a lot but I don't give him a lot of chances to play, so now I am giving him chances to play he is playing well.
"He is giving some nice crosses for Drogba and he scored his goal.
"I think in the future when he plays and the other guys go for the ball I think he has the right to say 'Give me another chance', because the goal was magnificent and I think it was a surprise for Green because he was expecting for Lampard to hit the shot." |
