KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2, 2015: Former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed will not be available for questioning by the police as he is currently out of country. This was confirmed by officials from his office when contacted by The Rakyat Post. It is unknown when Dr Mahathir would be returning from his overseas trip. The latest development came after Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar announced that Dr Mahathir would be called in by the police in the near future following his appearance at the Bersih 4 rally over the weekend. According to a report by Malaysiakini, the nation’s top cop said that the call was made as police wanted to find out more on Dr Mahathir’s claims that he made during the rally. “We will call him (Dr Mahathir), he has made speeches and accusations.
“Among them he claimed Umno leaders had taken bribes, so we want to find out more,” Khalid was quoted as saying in an event in Port Klang, today. It was learnt that Dr Mahathir would be called in for investigations following his speech during the rally where he had accused several Umno division leaders of taking bribes. In addition Khalid also told reporters that Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali would also be called up for questioning over the two-day rally. “We will investigate all prominent leaders who joined Bersih.”trp
