Woody Allen child molestation accusation could have impact on Cate Blanchett’s Oscar chances

The furor over Woody Allen and Mia Farrow's adopted daughter, 28-year-old Dylan Farrow, re-igniting the two-decade-old child sexual abuse allegations has made Oscar-watchers ask: Will this real-life drama scuttle Cate Blanchett's chances of winning a Best Actress Academy Award on March 2 for Allen's "Blue Jasmine"?
A clue to how it'll all play out perhaps lies in how members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have voted in the past when offstage issues threatened to impact who'll appear onstage to accept their statuettes.
The most notorious case in the last dozen years was "A Beautiful Mind," which in 2002 won Best Picture, Best Director for Ron Howard, Best Supporting Actress for Jennifer Connelly and Best Adapted Screenplay.
As the Oscar race heated up that year, however, a smear campaign toward the movie surfaced and threatened to torpedo the film’s award chances. The film was called "a whitewash" of real-life mathematician Dr. John Nash's alleged bisexuality and anti-Semitism. Nash and his family appeared on "60 Minutes" to refute the charges.
The result of it all could have cost the movie its four Oscars. But it didn't - and the contretemps now is thought of the worst example of pre-Oscar mud-slinging, a tactic by rival studios that previously involved "The Hurricane," "Saving Private Ryan" and several other films.
In 2008, the gay magazine The Advocate called out "Milk" star Sean Penn for having supported the Cuban government despite its anti-homosexuality record. The magazine and several commentators claimed Penn's portrayal of slain California Assemblyman Harvey Milk was hypocritical.
The attacks went nowhere: Penn went on to win Best Actor for the film.
In 2011, "The King's Speech" won Best Picture, Best Actor (Colin Firth), Best Director (Tom Hooper) and Best Original Screenplay - despite charges in the media that King George VI, whom Firth portrayed, was a Nazi appeaser.
2012's "Zero Dark Thirty" also faced challenges as it competed for Academy Awards glory. The month it was released, senators Dianne Feinstein, John McCain and Carl Levin sent a letter to the film's studio, calling the account of the mission to kill Osama Bin Laden, "grossly inaccurate and misleading."
After director Kathryn Bigelow was omitted from the nominees for Best Director, she and "Zero Dark Thirty" screenwriter Mark Boal gave interviews and wrote opinion pieces criticizing U.S. interrogation techniques in the War on Terror.
The film ended up winning only one of the five Oscars it was up for -- Best Sound Editing -- though it’s remains unclear if the controversy was to blame.
This year, the Somali-pirate drama "Captain Phillips" earned an Oscar nom for Best Picture, though director Paul Greengrass and star Tom Hanks were snubbed for individual awards.

apa pun aku suka sangat filem2 woody..annie hall,manhattan murder mystery,VCB,match point,mighty aphrodite,to rome with love and latest,blue jasmine..stylee!
