Army pathologist faces graft rap

SHAH ALAM: AN army pathologist claimed trial at the Sessions Court yesterday to soliciting and agreeing to accept a bribe of RM700,000 from a company director.
Colonel Dr R. Kunaseegaran, 50, is alleged to have solicited from Abdul Razar Abdullah, 43, the sum as a reward for proposing RAZ Medical Supplies Sdn Bhd, B & S Enterprise and Caramed Global Sdn Bhd to be the suppliers for medicines and disposable medical equipment for Hospital Angkatan Tentera Tuanku Mizan.
Kunaseegaran, who is the hospital's pathology laboratory head, allegedly committed the offence through an SMS, which he had sent to Razar about 11.58am on Aug 29.
He was also alleged with agreeing to accept the RM700,000 bribe at Empire Gallery, Subang Jaya, at 5.15pm on Sept 3.
Deputy public prosecutor Azlin Sabtu proposed bail at RM500,000 with one surety due to the seriousness of the offences.
She also asked that the accused surrender his passport to the court.
Counsel Geethan Ram Vincent, who represented Dr Kunaseegaran, pleaded for a reasonable amount as the accused was a senior army officer and has been in service for 23 years.
He added that his client was unlikely to abscond.
"My client has not yet been proven guilty, and if he cannot pay the bail sum in full, he'll have to go to jail," he said.
Judge Slamat Yahya set bail at RM100,000 with one surety and fixed Oct 9 for mention. Last edited by paperchase on 10-9-2013 03:32 PM

pegawai perubatan yang jadi pengarah hospital kot...tandatangan dia paling berkuasa. pegawai farma ...
pasal stok ubat mana2 hospital pengarah hospital x sentuh pun.. takde langsung pengarah hospital kena sign invoice terima ubat/luluskan pembelian ubat.
ketua unit farmasi yg in charge...
pelik juga mcm mana doktor boleh terlibat...

untuk makluman, jumlah perbelanjaan ubat untuk sebuah hospital setahun jauh lebih banyak..

Kevin Morais murdered, military doctor among 7 arrested, say cops

Police today confirmed that missing deputy public prosecutor Kevin Anthony Morais (pic) was murdered after human remains were found in a concrete-filled drum in USJ1, Subang Jaya, 12 days after he went missing.
Police also confirmed that seven people, including a military doctor, were arrested yesterday.
Federal CID director Datuk Seri Mohmad Salleh said that the main suspect had led police to the swampy area, where the drum, containing Morais’s body, was dumped.
“We believe it has to do with a case in the Shah Alam court that Morais was involved in. The suspect was involved in a corruption case that Morais was prosecuting,” he said at the scene today.
Morais, who was attached with the Attorney-General's Chambers, was reported missing on September 4 after he left his Menara Duta residence for work.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar had said last week that police had reclassified the case from a missing person report to abduction based on footage from closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) obtained in Kuala Lumpur.
The footage showed Morais's car being rammed by another car along a road in the city before being taken away by several men.
Mohmad said today that police found the body after breaking open the barrel filled with cement with the help of the Fire and Rescue Department.
“The body, which was stuffed in a gunny sack, has been sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem, which will be done at 2pm.”
The detainees include a woman and a child, but Mohmad said they were not directly involved in the case but were picked up along with seven others.
“Only one had a criminal record,” he said, adding that they were arrested around Rawang and the Klang Valley.
The CID director also said that initial investigations showed that the main suspect had hired the others detained to carry out the abduction.
Police also seized RM17,000, a Honda Accord and a Mitsubishi Triton, which was used to hit Morais's car when he was abducted, in Penang.
A Proton Persona, RM15,000 and hardware used to stuff the body into the barrel were seized in Kuala Lumpur.
The military doctor, a colonel in his 50s, attached with the pathology lab at Hospital Angkatan Tentera Tuanku Mizan, was charged with unlawful trade in December 2013.
Morais was the DPP in the case.
In September last year, the doctor, who was on an RM100,000 bail, had claimed trial to two bribery charges involving RM700,000 for allegedly recommending three companies to supply medicine and disposable medical tools to the hospital. – September 16, 2015.

kalau gomen , keje 10 taun baru nak cecah rm10k sebulan..takda nya ...
Sis. Ayol betul2 ingat jadi doktor ni gaji lebih tinggi dr o & g.
Dedulu student2 cream of crop ni mostly aiming jd doktor lah... haruslah salah satu motivasinya adalah hensom pay nye... ye dak..
Tp rupa2nya kalau 10 tahun baru dpt 10k... baik jd engineer jha... |

Dedulu student2 cream of crop ...
Memang laa starting sikit compare dgn o&g.tapi bila dah ada master dan sub..terus gaji dabel...itu baru keje gomen..tapi kalau kerja prebet ..setakat gaji doktor biasa...rm10-15k tu normal utk 6-8 thn pengalaman..kalau dah jadi specialist kat prebet..memang kalah gaji o&G utk tempoh pengalaman yg sama |
