Arsenal's Adebayor: I owe it all to Thierry
December 10, 2007

Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor credits his superb form this season to the man he was signed to replace - Barcelona ace Thierry Henry.
He said: "Before this season a lot of people never even knew that there was a player called Emmanuel Adebayor. Some people didn't know I existed! "I came in for a lot of criticism when I first came to London. People said I'm not good in front of goal. The man who helped me come through all this was Thierry Henry. "He was the club's talisman and it was very difficult. I kept wondering if I was going to play or not, whether it was me or Robin Van Persie who was going to partner Thierry. I was concentrating on that rather than scoring goals and I started to lose confidence. "Thierry was fantastic with me. He talked to me, taught me to do things in training. Most importantly, he told me to take risks. He said, 'Don't be in two minds when a ball comes, just make your decision and hit it'. "It doesn't matter if it goes into the crowd, like a lot of my shots were doing. When he left it was good for him but also good for me. It gave me a chance to show what I can do and now people know that there is a player called Emmanuel Adebayor. Thierry was a talisman, but now we are happy not having any talismans at Arsenal. "Thierry said that my confidence would come back if I kept working and training and learning and he was right. So I want to thank him for helping me."

Clichy Remains Confident Of Title Success

Having lost three points in a dismal 2-1 defeat at the hands of Middlesbrough at the weekend, Arsenal抯 Gael Clichy admits that the pressure is now on his side in the race for the title. The Gunners have only picked up one point from their last two games, allowing Manchester United to close their lead at the top to just a solitary point. The French full-back is relishing this weekend抯 top of the table clash with Chelsea though, as an opportunity to re-assert Arsenal抯 dominance on the league.
He told the club's official website, "We knew the gap could have been six points if we had won against Newcastle. That was our first disappointment.
"But if you look at the game, one point wasn't a bad result in the end. If we had won at Middlesbrough it would have been perfect.
"Now the gap has closed and we have to make something good against Chelsea because the pressure is on. We like the pressure but it would have been different with a win at Middlesbrough.
Arsenal were without Cesc Fabregas, Alex Hleb, Robi van Persie, Abou Diaby and Matthieu Flamini on Sunday and he is hopeful of their return next weekend.
"It's a big week. That's why I'm saying it would be good if we could get all the players back from injury. I think we missed something at Middlesbrough."
Without key players, Arsenal struggled against a determined Boro, but Clichy believes their were other factors in the Gunners downfall.
He admits: "With Cesc, Robin, Alex and Mathieu in the side it is very different. We still have the quality without those players and so it's not an excuse but, of course, we look forward to them coming back because with them we are stronger.
"I think everyone gave 100 per cent at Middlesbrough. It was just the pitch, the fact everyone was a bit tired and we didn't play the way we like to play.
"We have a strong squad and we are first and we're playing well without five star players. It was a bit unlucky but we know with all these games we are going to get some injured players. So we have to be focused now.
"All the games are big but of course Chelsea is a massive game. Plus with only the one-point gap between ourselves and Manchester United, and Chelsea only a few points away, we have to play a great game.
"For me this game at Middlesbrough was a big game but we lost and the gap is only one point. Now we are just looking forward to Chelsea."

Arsenal Will Still Win Premier League - Aliadiere

Jeremie Aliadiere played a key role in helping his new club Middlesbrough beat his old club Arsenal on Sunday - but the French striker still believes the Gunners will go on to win the Premier League this season.
Middlesbrough may have defeated Arsenal 1-0 to end the Gunners' 15-match unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign, but Boro's former Arsenal striker has not changed his opinion that Arsene Wenger's side will win the title.
It was Aliadiere who earned Boro's fourth-minute penalty when he lured Kolo Toure into a rash challenge. The resulting goal helped set up Boro's famous victory, but Aliadiere insisted that Arsenal deserved to be top of the Premier League.
The Gunners still lead Manchester United, albeit only by a point, and Aliadiere told the Daily Telegraph: "They are not top of the table for nothing. They they have played this season is unbelievable and I still think they will win the league.
"They had a lot of players missing yesterday and when they are back they will win the title. I just think it's the way Arsenal get their results. I have been watching their games and they are the best team."

Grant Taunts Arsenal As Mind Games Begin

Like his predecessor Jose Mourinho, Chelsea manager Avram Grant has begun the mind-games ahead of his side抯 top-of-the-table clash with leaders Arsenal on Sunday by expressing his doubts over their opponent抯 title credentials, citing their inability to cope with injuries as the major weakness in their armoury.

Grant, who replaced Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge in 2007, feels that unlike his own side, who have had to contend with the absences of John Terry, Didier Drogba, Petr Cech, Ricardo Carvalho, Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard, Arsenal lack the strength in depth within their squad which he feels could hamper their title aspirations.

"Since we beat Valencia (in October), we have won a lot of games and we have played better football

paper maner nie??bukan arsenal kalah 2-1 ker?
aliadiere played wif ony one mission ari tu,that was to tell wenger that wenger had a go0d striker last time..aliadiere ony needed 1st team chance kat arsenal dulu..he had a few wonderful games kat arsenal, for example against liverpool in carling cup..when henry left,he thought he might get more chances tp wenger lak gi beli eduardo and promoted bentner to 1st team..so aliadiere had no option but to lo0k 4 a new club..

memang aku admit... midfield main out untuk 2 game tuh... memang harap Flamini return dan aku harap sangat kalau Wenger mainkan Rosicky kat tengah sementara Fabregas dan Helb takde.. kalau tak memang laa tak gerak

bagi aku Ali memang ada potensi untuk bagus, tapi dia pernah cedera teruk 1-2 season tak dapat main. sedikit merencatkan sikit potensi mamat tu.. tapi 8 tahun dia kat Arsenal memang aku harap sungguh dia dapat break 1st team tapi akhirnya...
