Capped a good all-round display with a well-taken goal on the run.

Did what was expected of him - shielding the back-four.
Luis Antonio Valencia: 9
Was heavily involved in most of United's attacking play as he put his former employers to the sword. Fully-deserved to score United's fifth goal.

Showed his class by spraying instinctive passes and linking up well with Rooney. Deserved his goal.:pompom:
Wayne Rooney: 8
Could have had a hat-trick if not for the woodwork. His workrate is matched only by his predatory instincts in front of goal. Did well to lay off a beautiful assist for Valencia.

Hardly to be blamed for United goals. Taken off at half-time to be replaced by Michael Pollitt.

Was at the right place at the right time to clear off the line in the 20th minute.

Did not have much chance against the United onslaught.

Tried to withstand United's attacks on his own with several last-ditch tackles.
Mario Melchiot: 5
Was more effective going forward.
Maynor Figueroa: 4
Was absolutely murdered by Wigan old boy Valencia on the left flank.
Cho Won-Hee: 5
Spent most of the time defending Wigan's goal.
Hendry Thomas: 4 (off 70th min)
Allowed United's midfield to completely overrun the defence.
Charles N'Zogbia: 5 (off 69th min)
Had a couple of promising runs but with Wigan sitting back, they amounted to nothing.
Garcia Jordi Gomez: 5
Showed some nice touches but was eventually outmumbered whenever he had the ball.
Hugo Rodallega: 6
Cut a lone and frustrated figure up-front and gave Wes Brown a few scares. Rodallega spent more time chasing shadows and could have done with more support.
