[08.05.09] Korea's pop culture summer award ceremony (the third annual 2009 Mnet 20's Choice) nominees revealed!
Onthe 5th of August at 8pm, through the Mnet Wide Entertainment News livebroadcast, the 20 award categories and nominees for 2009 Mnet 20'sChoice (which will be held for the third time) were revealed.
The2009 Mnet 20's Choice, which will be held on the 28th of August, isKorea's summer pop culture award ceremony where the real culture iconsamong hot trendsetters will be chosen by people in their 20's.
Differentfrom normal award ceremonies, there will be a blue carpet at the Mnet20's Choice, exceptional performances, and a voting which will focus onthe 20's; and with the introduction of many new award categories, theevent got praises like "An up-to-date and revolutionary concept," whichresulted in showing off their sensational lineup of award categoriesand nominees which you won't be able to see at other award ceremonies.
Theaward categories and nominees were chosen by reporters, magazineeditors, movie promoters, designers, people in charge of clothingbrands, moderators of portal sites, operators of forums, universitystudents, 50 small-scale trend leaders and from a survey on a homepagewhich only runs for people in their 20's. The data was also based offan offline survey and on-and-offline data.
It's said thatseveral industries, which are dependent on the trends of people intheir 20's (such as fashion, broadcasting, and advertisementindustries) are showing much interest in this event and with thereflecting thoughts, sense and interests of these people, the awardcategories and nominees of the 2009 Mnet 20's Choice are showing us thetrends of this year.

Inthe context of the 2009 Mnet 20's Choice, an award ceremonyrepresenting the 20's, it was decided to have 20 award categories.
Thecategories are decided depending on the trend each year and awardcategories new this year, like girl group style/mister beauty/boom upsong/etc., are drawing attention. The "girl group style" award has beencreated due to the big influence on the fashion market through the girlgroup craze. Additionally, a new award called "mister beauty" has beencreated to focus on handsome men. Another category attracting attentionis "boom up song." This category features songs from various popularCFs and dramas.
Following the trend of the "middle-agedbeauties," Yoon Sanghyun, Go Hyunjung, Kim Namjoo, Kim Taewon, SeonwooYong Nyuh and other stars in their 30's are also on the nominee list,while the F4 from the drama "Boys Over Flowers" set a record for beingnominated in several categories. Especially Lee Minho, who has beennominated in 5 categories, has made 2009 his year.

You can participate in thevoting through the official homepage "Mnet 20's Choice"(http://choice.mnet.com) and Mnet Mobile 2566 (mobile 2566 + internetkey) starting from 9pm after the announcement on Wide EntertainmentNews on the 5th of August, and it is planned to add 50% of the votingresults to 50% of the results of research on people in their 20's.
Ratherthan just looking at the preferences of people in their 20's, it isplanned to analyze and examine more in-depth with a separation of ageclasses from early-middle-late, so that the award ceremonies are moreconvincing.
