Unfortunately (or luckily?), these testimonials came not only from married men, but also from bachelors.
It's a wild world out there. Nowadays, women in particular can't survive with just love anymore.
We have to equip ourselves with lotsa other skills and charming qualities...

What can we do? Take them for granted & hope to God that love will forever be sufficient?

while we as a woman are sure to be at the loosing end, taking into account the ratio of men and woman
at this moment, and as you has pointed out that its a kind or race out there
