According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Mirror, several Manchester United first-team players could be on their way out of the club during the close season.
Apparently, manager Sir Alex Ferguson has decided his squad needs an overhaul following the comprehensive 2-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League final.
It is claimed that the Red Devils will not exercise the option to sign Carlos Tevez for £25.5 million unless the fee is lowered to £18m, which means that the Argentina international could end up playing for one of their Premier League rivals next season.
South Korea international midfielder Park Ji-Sung and Portugal international winger Nani could also be heading for the exit doors at Old Trafford.
Wigan Athletic's Ecuador international midfielder Antonio Valencia is said to be a candidate to replace the latter pair, with a £15 million transfer being mooted.
Meanwhile, British tabloid The Daily Express alleges that United will make a move for Lyon's France international striker Karim Benzema, who has also been linked with Chelsea, as a replacement for Tevez.
Goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak, who is a Poland international, is also likely to leave as Ferguson sees Ben Foster as a long-term successor to Edwin van der Sar. |
