CNBLUE becomes the first Korean artist to play on ‘MTV Japan Unplugged’
Korean rock band CNBLUE recently made an appearance on MTV Japan‘s Unplugged, taking the title as the first ever Korean artist to appear on the show.
MTV Unplugged is a music program that features intimate, acoustic sets from world-class artists like Eric Clapton, Oasis and Mariah Carey. Japan’s own version of the program began its broadcast last July.
The boys played a 12-song set that included some of their Japanese hits like “Let’s Go Crazy”, “Try Again, Smile Again” and “Kimio”. In addition, the band also debuted the acoustic rendition for their Japanese major-label debut single, “In My Head”, as well as their newest number, “Where You Are”.
Aside from the boys’ flawless performance, CNBLUE made headlines with the number of ticket requests made for the show. Reportedly, they drew a whopping 15,000 applications from fans wishing to attend the show (MTV Unplugged Japan only accepts 150 attendees).
After the show, the members expressed their gratitude to the attendees, stating that they were “very surprised to hear how many people requested tickets for our show” and that they “worked very hard to put on their best performance for the fans.”
CNBLUE made their major label debut in October with the song “In My Head”, which sold an impressive number of 100,000 copies.
CN Blue’s Japanses Single Album “Where You Are” Reaches #1 on Oricon Daily Single Chart
CN Blue’s agency FNC Music stated, “The second major single album ‘Where You Are’ which was released on February 1 sold 32,000 albums and reached #1 on the Oricon Daily Single Chart.” The songs “Where You Are” and “Feeling” was written and produced by Jung Yong Hwa. Lee Jong Hyun produced “Get Away.”
CN Blue also made a statement after they heard of reaching #1 on the Oricon Daily Single Chart. They stated, “After our major debut we have only released two singles but it feels like a dream that we reached #1 on the Oricon Daily Single Chart. We will keep trying our best to share good music with more people.”
CN Blue appeared on the rock festival “COUNTDOWN JAPAN” as the first non-Japanese band. CN Blue was also the first Korean singer to appear on the Japanese MTV “Unplugged.”
CNBLUE may return to music scene in March with new album
Korean rock band CNBLUE is highly likely to make their comeback to the local music scene with a new album in March.
On Friday, a PR rep with their agency FNC Music told 10Asia over the phone that CNBLUE is recording several songs for their new album which will be released sometime in March.
However, the official explained that the firm has yet to finalize its release date and that they are still in discussions on the format of the album.
Their last album in the country was their first studio record “FIRST STEP” which was released in May of last year which produced hit songs “Intuition” and “LOVE GIRL.”
In the meantime, CNBLUE recently released their second major Japanese single “Where are you” and will hold a joint concert in Los Angeles with FNC labelmates FTIsland next month.
