Premier League - Giggs wins Sports Personality of Year
Ryan Giggs won the Sports Personality of the Year award in Sheffield
Welshman Giggs, 36, helped Manchester United retain their Premier League title and reach the final of the Champions League, where they lost 2-0 to Barcelona.
He has won 11 English league titles in his career with the Red Devils.
"I am playing for the greatest manager that has ever lived and I'm playing for the greatest club," he said after receiving the award, before sharing a joke about the good-natured heckles that followed.
"To see the people that have won it and to be up here is unbelievable. I grew up watching this programme."
Giggs is the first footballer to win it since former club team-mate David Beckham in 2001.
