Dilwale review by Anupama Chopra: This is just recycled mediocrity

Dilwale review | Highly predictable storyline, banks on SRK’s stardom Dilwale has a highly predictable storyline. In fact, it relies solely on the star power of SRK and some chuckle-worthy PJs. Kajol looks stunning and the celebrated couple gives us some sparkling moments but the lack of a concrete conflict line and too much effort on presenting Dilwale as a throwback to the ’90s Raj-Simran’s love saga make it painful for the viewers after a while. In a landmark 1996 essay titled The Decay of Cinema, Susan Sontag lamented the state of cinema at the end of the century. She wrote that “commercial cinema has settled for a policy of bloated, derivative filmmaking, a brazen combinatory or recombinatory art in the hope of reproducing past successes.” Sontag clearly anticipated Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale.
Even in the context of Shetty’s oeuvre, Dilwale is a low. It made me nostalgic for Chennai Express. I didn’t go in expecting anything more than a good time. Because Rohit and leading man Shah Rukh Khan have clearly positioned Dilwale as a masala entertainer. Which means that we must not expect logic, coherence, characters or depth. I’ve made my peace with that. My grouse is that I didn’t even have fun. The highlight of the film was Sanjay Mishra calling Mukesh Tiwari ‘Gareebon ka Jackie Shroff’.
Through the film, characters keep saying ‘Kisi ko peeche mudkar dekhne ki zaroorat nahin hai’. But the film demands that we draw on all the nostalgia and affection we have for Shah Rukh and Kajol. They are both beautiful, compelling actors who are perfectly capable of recreating the magic of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. But Rohit and his screenplay writer Yunus Sajawal don’t bother to create a fresh narrative for them.
We begin on a mildly intriguing note, in Bulgaria, but the suspense is soon flattened out. There are references to Mission Impossible 2, Love Actually, How I Met Your Mother and, of course, DDLJ. Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon work as bait, meant to bring in the critical youth segment. It is lazy writing designed to succeed. Even if it does, you have to ask — why are the most powerful names in the business content with doling out recycled mediocrity.

Ai tgk filem2 Salman Khan lebih menjadi akhir2 ni, tp yg slek sket movie dia agak klise sbb majority action movie... cth mcm movie Dabangg tu story ala2 sama jah mcm Kick, Jai Ho & Ek Tiger... plot je yg lain sket. Tp movie dia Bajrangi Bhaijaan mmg terbaik.. org kata mmg turn 180 degree gituh. Salman ada harapan menang best actor utk tahun 2015 ni, lakonan dia gile mantopp... my family x bganjak menonton movie ni dari awal sampai tamat..x de aksi2 ghairah atau seksi, sesuai utk tontonan kuarga.. lagu pun x byk sgt. Ai sendiri dh tgk movie ni 4x gituh...
Selain Salman, ai folo gak movie2 Aamir Khan & Hrithik Roshan... sbb 3 Khans & Hrithik ni merupakan peneraju teratas 10 filem2 box office Bollywood. Filem2 Aamir pun majority ada kelainan yg tersendiri & x klise sptmana filem2 dia tahun 90an dulu. Start movie Lagaan, almost semua movie Aamir mmg worth utk ditonton. About Hrithik, dia pun ala2 Salman...byk action movie lately which ai x brape gemar la... ai lebih prefer movie dia yg lama2 dulu walopun x box office. Filem box office dia mcm Krrish & Bang Bang tu mcm *teeeettt* je.. CGI x brape menjadi, mcm kartun jah..compare dgn movie Aamir, Dhoom 3..CGI mmg terbaik, setanding Hollywood. X paham camne filem Krrish & Bang Bang masuk list 10 high gross Hindi movie.
Back to topic Dilwale... ai just harap SRK akan lebih berhati2 pilih movie which jgn tlalu klise dgn plot2 yg dh ketinggalam zmn. X byk buat dlm setahun pun x pe, janji ada kualiti. Previous movie dia byk yg bagus2 esp keluaran Yash Raj Film. Jgn marah eaa kalo ai kata Dilwale ni maybe over rated sket kot...

bg aku yang xpenah tgk hindustan ni, cita ni terbaik...
scene and cinematography dia tak macam dulu2...
kajol sgt cantik okey...iols memang terpesona tgk dia...
diorang ni memang muka tak makan usia kan...both kajol and SRK..
mcm biasa la..ade scene yang tak logik, iols punya ketawa masa veer ngorat ishu sambil drift..
bapak tak logik siott..iols ketawa gila masa tu..
padahal geng2 kicap sume tgk dengan khusyuk skali...
cite ni tak berapa berat, just berat pada emosi je la...
anyway..

uols...ai suggest uols try layan 10 high-gross Hindi movies nih... then baru uols dpt rate which movie yg betul2 meninggalkan kesan kat diri uols selepas menontonnya...dan uols nk menontonnya lagi berkali2 gituh..

betul .. iols sgt rindu filem2 90an .. wpun klise tp iols suka dgr lagu2 zmn tu .. best kot . sekarang dah takde cmtu lg . lagu2 suma iols dgr skali je , pastu lupa. hahahaha ..
okay, back to cerita ni .. to be honest iols tak tgk pon lg , since my area takde .. aritu sgt la berkobar2 nak tengok tp apakan daya takde rezeki .. iols dpt la agak cerita ni mst tahap2 chenai express gitu .. director pon sama kan . cerita tu so so je for me .. iols perasan , SRK ni mmg agak lemah kot dlm pemilihan film .. dia dlu feymes pon sbb film2 romance jek kan .. takde gaya baru la .. gitu je balik2 .. bosan lame2 .. even SK and Aamir dah jauh tglkn SRK ... iols x brapa suka SK dlu tp, film BB beliau wpun agak klise, dimana hero mmg always menang .. tp cerita tu ada isi n teladan dia tersendiri ... iols menangisssssss tgk cerita tu sbb seday sgt .. miahahaha ..
xpe la pasni SRK ada 2 movie bru kan .. hope x klise jgk la .. hehehe ..
