Zionist plot fails to sow division; Italian activist converts to Islam in Israeli prison
Pars Today - The conversion to Islam of an Italian activist, who is a member of the Sumud Flotilla, has provoked the Zionists' anger. An Italian activist and member of the Global Sumud Flotilla has converted to Islam while imprisoned by the regime. According to Pars Today, citing the Iranian Quran News Agency (IQNA), Tommaso Bortolazzi, the Italian activist and captain of the "Maria Cristin" ship in the Global Sumud Flotilla which was attempting to break the blockade to the Gaza Strip, converted to Islam after being captured by Israeli occupying forces.
After his release and arrival in Turkey, Bortolazzi appeared in a widely circulated social media video alongside a Turkish activist who was with him in the flotilla. In the video, he stated, "I converted to the religion of Islam inside one of the Israeli prisons."
In this video, the Turkish activist said: "During the morning prayers, the occupying forces raided the cells, but Tommy confronted them and prevented them from attacking us. He sat with us during the prayers. We prayed out loud so that everyone in the prison could hear us." He added: "We were sitting next to each other in the prison vehicle. I asked Tommy if he had ever studied Islam. He replied that he had, stating that he was a Catholic from a religious family." The Turkish activist, with deep emotion, recounted those moments, saying: "Tommy recited the Shahada (the declaration of faith) inside the prison vehicle, and amidst the tears and joy of all the prisoners, he announced his conversion to Islam."
He continued, "At that moment, everyone embraced him, but this scene enraged the occupying forces. They immediately took him out and transferred him to a solitary confinement cell. At that moment, I said, 'Tommy has paid the price for his conversion to Islam.'"
Other Christians targets of regime's massacres According to ISNA, since the start of the genocide in Gaza on October 7, 2023, the Zionist regime, aiming to undermine the "moral and religious authority" of Palestinian society, has martyred 20 Christians and 233 preachers and Muslim scholars, destroyed hundreds of mosques, and demolished several main churches. Based on this report, during this period, the Zionist regime has deliberately targeted Muslim and Christian scholars, preachers, mosque imams, and religious leaders, completely demolishing more than 835 mosques and damaging over 180 others.
Additionally, the three main churches in Gaza — St. Porphyrius, Al-Aqsa Holy Family, and the Evangelical Baptist Church — have been bombed repeatedly, resulting in the martyrdom of over 20 Christians, including women, children, and the elderly, while their historical and service centers have been destroyed. In addition to the martyrdom of prominent figures during the occupying regime's attacks, the bombings of the Al-Aqsa Holy Family Church on July 17 and the St. Porphyrius Church on October 19, 2023, rank among the bloodiest assaults.
