Football: Cantona sees easy victory for Manchester Utd over Barcelona
CANNES, France: Football legend Eric Cantona, the star of a new film competing at the Cannes film festival, on Monday predicted triumph for his former team Manchester United over Barcelona in the Champions League final.
"I'll give you a straight answer," he said when asked at a press conference who would win on May 27 in Rome. "Manchester."
Cantona compared Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson - who was leading the team back in the 1990s when the French footballer was there - and Ken Loach, the director of his film titled "Looking for Eric."
"The way they work is 100 percent for the players, they are both very humble. They got me to give every bit of myself. Alex Ferguson is a great coach and Ken Loach is a great director," he said.
The former footballer, who has already acted in several films, plays himself in the new movie, appearing like a vision to help a Manchester postman also named Eric whose life is spiralling out of control.
Ferguson's side claimed their third English Premier League title in a row on Saturday after a scoreless draw against Arsenal.
If successful in the defence of the Champions League crown they won last year, United will secure a rare haul of four trophies this season.

Retired French forward Eric Cantona has today reiterated his desire to return to England if the opportunity ever came up to coach the side where he made his name, Manchester United. Surprisingly, he also intimated that he would relish the chance to succeed Italian tactician Fabio Capello as the boss of the England national team.
He told La Provence, "If I am to return [to football] one day it will be as a coach and because I could bring something new.
"But it will be in England, with the national team or at Manchester."
Despite hanging up his playing boots in 1997, Cantona has accumulated some coaching experience, albeit with the French national beach soccer side, with whom he won the inaugural FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in 2005.
