Japan Airlines, which is currently undergoing reconstruction due to its financial troubles, is looking to boost its business with Arashi's help. The airline has commissioned a single "Arashi Jet," which is basically a Boeing 777 whose fuselage is decorated with a 5-meter-tall, 20-meter-wide seal bearing the images of Arashi's members, along with the title of their latest album, "Boku no Miteiru Fuukei."
The plane will take its first flight on Sunday at 1:30pm, flying from Tokyo's Haneda Airport to Osaka. The plane is expected to be primarily used for domestic flights, serving the routes between Haneda and three other airports: New Chitose Airport in Sapporo, Itami Airport in Osaka, and Fukuoka Airport in Fukuoka. JAL plans to use the plane until January 2011.
In addition to the Arashi Jet, JAL will be selling the "Boku no Miteiru Fuukei" album (with a specially designed cover) in-flight on several of its domestic routes.
Latest V6 single makes history, group in same league as SMAP and B’z
V6′s 37th single “only dreaming/Catch” has made its debut at No.1 on the Japanese music charts, making it the 16th straight year the group has had a Top 10 single. The same record has only been achieved by two other music groups: B’z and SMAP.
The single has sold close to 60,000 copies, and has been used as the theme song to Yoshihiko Inohara’s (34) drama “警視庁捜査一課9係 (Keishicho Sousa Ikka 9-gakari)” and the “Waseda Academy” TV commercial.
It is the fourth consecutive No.1 single the group has had out of a total of 24 No. 1s.
Superfly topped the weekly album charts, with her two-disc release "Wildflower & Cover Songs: Complete Best 'TRACK 3'" selling 146,000 copies. Although officially labeled as a single, Oricon classifies it as an album for its rankings due to the number of songs included. As a result, Superfly is now the first female artist to achieve #1 with her first three albums since Mika Nakashima in 2003.
Koichi Domoto's "BPM" managed a close 2nd, selling 140,000 copies. British band Underworld reached #6, while INFINITY16 and Shinsengumi Lien entered the charts at #7 and #8, respectively.
On the singles chart, V6 took the #1 spot with their double A-side "only dreaming / Catch," which sold 57,000 copies. They now have a streak of 4 consecutive number-ones (24 total), and they have moved into 3rd place for the record of "consecutive years with a Top 10 single." With 16 consecutive years, they now trail only behind B'z and SMAP, who both hold the current record of 20 years.
Also in the top ten this week were new releases from Watarirouka Hashiritai (#2), Mai Kuraki (#4), BUCK-TICK (#7), miwa (#8), and SPEED (#10).
