Synopsis

This series revolves around a group of peculiar detectives in a new division created to fight against an increase in atrocious crimes. Osawa Eriko is a beautiful career woman who has just returned from training in the U.S. and is appointed as the "boss" of this division. But despite her intelligence and capabilities, she can never understand a man's heart, so she remains unable to find a husband. In fact, her assignment in the U.S. was really a demotion after she ruined her career track over a man. So why was she chosen as the boss of the new division? Even though the detectives are talented, they all have some kind of issue or flaw, and they are considered to be the "problem children" of the police force. A female detective (Amami Yuki) is brilliant and competent as a career policewoman. However, even though she understands criminals?psyche, she is completely hopeless at reading men抯 feelings. She is also a strong, single woman with hopes of marriage. Incurring the displeasure of the top brass ever since she threw away a career advancement because of her ex-boyfriend, she was sidelined and sent on training to the US. After her return, she somehow becomes the head of the First Investigative Division抯 Special Crimes Unit which has been set up to counter the high incidence of violent crimes. Her members are a group of detectives who are capable but have behavioural and personality problems. Yuki Amami's the "Boss"

Actress Yuki Amami is taking on her next lead drama role this spring in Fuji TV's "BOSS." This will be her first time playing a police detective in a TV series.

Amami stars as the new "boss" of a team of quirky detectives who are trying to fight a series of brutal crimes. Her character is intelligent and capable in her work. But even though she can understand the mentalities of the criminals she pursues, she has difficulty understanding men, leaving her unable to find what she really wants: a husband.

The nickname "boss" is strongly associated with Yujiro Ishihara's character in the drama series "Taiyou ni Hoero!" from the '70s and '80s, where he played a similar role as the leader of a detective team.

Amami's supporting cast in "Boss" includes Yutaka Takenouchi, Erika Toda, Junpei Mizobata, Michiko Kichise, and Yoichi Nukumizu. The show will air on Thursdays at 10:00pm, starting on April 16.
