Speaker bio:
Muhammad Husni Mohd. Amin is a Senior Research Officer at the Centre of Science and Environment Studies (KIAS), the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM). He first obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universiti Tenaga Nasional in 2008, after which he worked as project engineer in the telecommunications industry for several years before joining the academia. He has held a teaching position at the Selangor International Islamic University College (KUIS) from 2012 to early 2016.
In 2015, he obtained from the Centre for Advanced Studies on Islam, Science and Civilisation (CASIS), University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) his Masters of Philosophy in Islamic Thought and Civilization with a focus on history and philosophy of technology. He is in the final stages of completing his Ph.D. studies at the same Centre, focusing on classical military philosophy and strategies during the Crusades.
Apart from regularly writing in local newspapers and online news portals and presented academic papers in seminars, he is also a regularly invited speaker at Radio IKIM’s talk show ‘Agama Dan Peradaban (Religion and Civilization)’, discussing on issues ranging gender wisdom, history, religion, science, and technology.
