Details on EXILE ATSUSHI & Tsujii Nobuyuki’s collaborative single revealed
As announced previously, EXILE ATSUSHI and pianist Tsujii Nobuyuki will release their collaborative single titled “Soredemo, Ikiteyuku” on May 1st.
Originally, the song was the tune Tsujii played without preparation during the encore for his piano recital held in Boulder, Colorado on March 31st 2011. He expressed his thoughts toward the victims of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake with the tune, and ever since then, he has been playing the melody as the encore for his recitals.
Tsujii offered ATSUSHI to write the lyrics and sing to it, and ATSUSHI readily agreed to his request. The first half of the lyrics has the theme of reminiscence, while the last half has the theme of hope.
EXILE’s vocalist TAKAHIRO will release his first solo single “Issen Ichibyou” in June.
The title track is said to be a ‘forbidden love ballad’ which describes a maddening love. The lyrics of the song was written by Odake Masato, who also wrote “Bloom” for EXILE, and TAKAHIRO personally offered to help write the lyrics.
The music video was directed by Ninagawa Mika (“Sakuran”, “Helter Skelter”), and she was also in charge of the cover arts as well as the booklet for the single.
“Issen Ichibyou” will include “with…“, the song being used for NTT Communications‘ “050plus” CM, and other 2 tracks.
On April 16, EXILE kicked off their dome tour, ‘EXILE LIVE TOUR 2013: EXILE PRIDE‘, at Kyocera Dome Osaka. During this live, they announced their activity plans for 2014 which they have dubbed, ‘EXILE TRIBE PERFECT YEAR 2014‘.

EXILE’s MAKIDAI & Kutsuna Shiori to co-star in new late-night drama ‘Machiisha Jumbo!!’
On May 19th, it was announced that EXILE’s Maki Daisuke (also known as MAKIDAI) and actress Kutsuna Shiori are going to co-star in the live-action adaptation of Koshino Ryo’s manga ‘Machiisha Jumbo!!‘ on NTV.
‘Machiisha Jumbo!!’ is currently being serialized in the weekly magazine ‘Shukan Gendai‘. It is about a doctor with the nickname ‘Jumbo Sensei’ (Maki) who returns to a small port town to get back the 100 million Yen he lent to the local doctor ‘Baba Sensei’. However, the local doctor has died and for some reason he decides to take over his doctor’s office. After the initial shock of the locals, they soon discover that behind his greedy and rude nature, Jumbo is actually a very skilled and earnest doctor himself.
He also makes Baba-sensei’s only daughter ‘Asuka’ (Kutsuna), an inexperienced nurse, work together with him. Asuka inherited the kindness and the passion from her father and isn’t afraid of confronting Jumbo. Together they manage to help out patients and Asuka gradually finds out the real intention of Jumbo’s return.
Maki commented, “Jumbo is the town doctor who faces with the problems happen in the region, or in a family, and takes care of his patients both mentally and physically. I hope that I can express his direct and wild nature well.”
Kutsuna added, “It’s my first drama starring role on a mainstream network, so I can feel a much bigger responsibility this time. I want to prepare myself mentally and firmly face this challenge.”
Other characters include a mysterious nurse that came along with Jumbo – played by Yoshida Yo, a medical journalist played by Fueki Yuko, and the director of the surgical department of a universal hospital – played by Omi Toshinori.
NTV is going to air ‘Machiisha Jumbo!!’ every Thursday at 11:58 pm starting on July 4th.
THE SECOND from EXILE to sing theme song for two NTV dramas
June 26, 2013 @ 2:07 pm
It's been revealed that EXILE sub-unit THE SECOND from EXILE will be singing the theme songs for two NTV dramas starting in July.
The group will be releasing their new single, "SURVIVORS feat. DJ MAKIDAI from EXILE / Pride", on August 14. "SURVIVORS-" will be used in 'Machiisha Jumbo!!' (starts July 4) while "Pride" will be used in 'Frenemy ~Dobu Nezumi no Machi~' (starts July 3). Both songs were written to fit the image of each drama.
"Machiisha Jumbo!!" stars EXILE's Maki Daisuke (MAKIDAI) as a successful doctor. THE SECOND was chosen to provide the theme song as their strong performance matched the drama's image. Meanwhile, SHOKICHI will take his first lead role in "Frenemy". He even wrote the lyrics to "Pride" himself.
SHOKICHI expressed, "It is such an honor. It will make me happy if our songs will help liven up the dramas."
