Taiwan Media Explodes with News that Wu Zun is Married with Newborn Daughter
I normally don’t like to post about rumors and gossip rag scandals, but this story is likely only going to get bigger so might as well break it now. Taiwan media (gossip magazines and mainstream news outlets) have exploded with an Apple Daily exclusive undercover report that confirms all the long-standing rumors about Wu Zun for the last few years. He is in fact married since 2009, and his wife recently gave birth to their first child, a lovely daughter who looks like daddy.
Rumors about Wu Zun having a long-time girlfriend started before he even debuted (apparently she accompanied him to Taiwan), and has always reeked of Andy Lau and his now-confirmed wife Carol’s situation. The rumors have been so persistent, with the Fahrenheit boys sometimes accidentally saying something incriminating about Zun’s non-single status before shutting their mouths. I’ll share what the media has to say this time, but know that Zun’s manager has yet again denied this latest report as being totally false.
Apparently Wu Zun is married to his high school sweetheart in Brunei. Her name is Li Li Ying and she’s currently 31 years old. They’ve dated on and off for sixteen years, and she’s from a comparable well-to-do family. Apple Daily sent reporters to Brunei, and they managed to take a picture of a lovely young lady driving a Porsche in and out of the family estate, as well as captured shots of baby clothes drying in the balcony.
Wu Zun’s manager has refuted this report and says that the lady in question is Wu Zun’s sister-in-law and the baby clothes belong to the children of his brother and sister-in-law. However, the Apple Daily reporters interviewed locals and neighbors of the family who have all confirmed that it’s an open secret in Brunei and widely known that Wu Zun is married and that Li Li Ying just had a baby. Everyone in Brunei adores him for being their pride and joy local son and are happy to keep his marital status underwraps for the most part.
If his daughter is four months old, it coincides with Wu Zun taking two months off in the early part of this year to head back to Brunei. Since then, he’s gone back more than 10 times in the last few months, and has declined a lot of activities and projects, including Absolute Darling which filming was delayed for months. This also coincides with the flying rumors earlier this year of Wu Zun leaving Fahrenheit and the group disbanding. This is the most substantive reporting on his marriage rumor in years, and I don’t think it’ll go away just because his manager denies it.
Personally this story makes me so happy if it’s true. My gut feeling from being a long-time follower of the HK/TW entertainment industry rules tells me that this is true. These idols have to keep their love lives under such tight wraps it’s so sad. I love the fact that he married his long-time sweetheart, that he’s a great dad making time for his new daughter, and he’s so normal and married at the right age instead of just flitting around the industry. I hope his fans accept this so that he can admit it. Andy and Carol dragged on for 20 years (bless her poor soul) before finally getting confirmation. That just sucks for the spouse in question.
