korang, adik aku cakap, kat US yang bapak segala downloading ni pun takde implementation camni
so logik ke tak logik, kalau negara Malaysia, yang mostly orang tak tau pun lagi nak guna operating system dengan betul (no offense) nak implement benda yang complicated macam ni
inform me if i am wrong, tapi memang tak pernah la pulak aku dengar negara US or even India (yang terer bab programming) yang limitkan usersnya download stuff dari internet, legal or illegally.
what say you? |

actually, they have already implemented this in US. not by government, but self initiative by ISPs. not sure if your adik read recent lawsuit by comcast users. comcast track down users with heavy download activities and limit/delay their traffics, and users take comcast to US court for misleading them (comcast should have advised them when they got the service, in end users service agreement).
right now, music industry is the only industry that really goes hard finding illegal music downloaders and several thousand downloaders had been sued, including college students (downloading using college network). none of these are initiated by the government and of course music industry gets cooperation from ISPs. film and sofware industries have started to do the same too.

yep! and deep into the pocket. in 2003, a 12 years old was sued and settled for $2000 for illegal mp3 download with RIAA. summer this year, RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) sued 15 university of georgia students for illegal downloading. this month alone, RIAA got 32 vanderbilt students (23 have been identified), while last year they got 20 for the whole year from U of Vanderbilt.
RIAA Pre- Lawsuit Letters Go To 22 Campuses In New Wave oF Deterrence Program
so, it's not hard to trace down illegal activities and they don't have to stop by each house. if they can do it in north america, malaysia is nothing. so, be careful (malaysia probably under pressure from US to do this)

they implement this in us and people still seek for better broadband speed. we have to look at big picture instead of what we do right now. downloading is a big word, and can be done legally and/or legally. it's really a choice.
if they implemented this in malaysia, they will find a way to keep their broadband customers.
p/s: people always find a way to break the law. macam dadah, hukuman mengedar dadah di malaysia adalah gantung sampai mati (for 100g and over or something) and yet, people still do it.

dvd kat sini memang murah. retail price biasanya dalam US$25. depends pada cerita juga. kalau sales, boleh dapat dalam less than US$15. tapi kat sini, sales tax count masa beli (not included in the price, tak macam kat malaysia), but masih murah.

Yup...it can be done... but... ahah... there's a but here...
Will tmnut/isps want to spend all that money to track down illegal downloaders... AND... worse... risk losing users?
Kalau diaorang cap download limit ramai orang, apa kata kita semua amik sekor lawyer, then sue balik diaorang longgok2 duit... pastu kita takyah download mp3 lagi... dah cukup duit nak beli yg ori nyer. |
