With the collaboration of Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and Visa, Visa go Hong Kong Super Shopper, a highlight in “Hong Kong Summer Spectacular”, is now in its fourth year. This year, the Visa go Hong Kong Super Shopper contest was carried out in the format of a treasure hunt where participants follow instructions to visit and complete tasks at a number of spots in Hong Kong, requiring them to subsequently share pictures from their visits on social media platforms.
The tasks – which included sampling local delicacies, visiting green attractions, enjoying local arts and culture, and using their Visa cards to shop – focused on showcasing Hong Kong’s diverse offerings and displayed an in-depth experience of Hong Kong. By using effective tactics and their knowledge of Hong Kong, the winning team can take away a HK$200,000 Visa spending credit.
Malaysia’s top celebrity Aaron Aziz and one lucky Hong Kong Super Fan, Michell Ching, were selected to represent Malaysia in the fabulous Visa go Hong Kong Super Shopper 2013 held on 29–31 July 2013. Aaron and Michell competed with 8 other teams from: Japan, Mainland China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand for the first round. Successfully completed all the missions, the Malaysian team definitely had a lot of fun experience in exploring and discovering many other sides of Hong Kong.
Aaron Aziz, an award-winning actor, was really excited with this new experience, “Hong Kong is like a second home to me and I am so thrilled to be part of this contest to represent Malaysia with my Hong Kong Super Fan, Michell Ching. Walking and running around Hong Kong during the Ramadhan period is definitely a challenge but it’s all worth it. We managed to complete all the tasks and at the same time discover new places in Hong Kong!”
Team Taiwan which comprised ofLin Wei Yi, the host of a travel programme, and DJ Pan Hsing Tsang beat the competing teams to win the crown of Hong Kong Super Shopper 2013. In addition to organising “Visa go Hong Kong Super Shopper”, the HKTB also rolled out a number of events and special programmes during the “Hong Kong Summer Spectacular” period. The Visa go Hong Kong Super Shopper Contest alsobrought Team Malaysia to ‘the wishing trees’. Here, it is a tradition for people to write their wishes on joss paper and throw it onto these two trees. The higher the branch the joss paper lands on, the higher the possibility the wish will come true.
