Pictures of the production Toyota FT-86 have been leaked ahead of schedule.

The long-awaited rear-wheel-drive coupé isn’t supposed to break cover until next month’s Tokyo Motor Show, but these low-resolution images, scanned from an official brochure, reveal all.

They depict the finished car, but fitted with a styling package from Toyota’s own ‘Modellista’ parts department aimed at the Japanese market – the standard model will do without the bodykit and bigger wheels. Also leaked were shots of the interior, splashed with red accents in this Modellista version.

The rear bumper, tail-lights and headlamps have all been redesigned from the FT-86 II concept, seen at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.

When it goes on sale next year, the FT-86 will use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder boxer engine sending around 200bhp to the rear wheels.

This car has went by more names than the artist formerly known as Prince. It has been known as the FT-86, Scion FR-S, and the Subaru BRZ, and it has been the source of an endless amount of concept cars, spy shots, and tons of leaked information and pictures.
