The Amazing Spider-Man is an upcoming American superherofilm currently in post production. It is the fourth Columbia Pictures filmbased on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man and the first film in arebooted Spider-Man film franchise. Originally, Spider-Man 4 was planned forrelease in 2011; however, in 2010 the film was cancelled due to Sam Raimi'swithdrawal from the project, as he felt he could not meet the planned releasedate without sacrificing artistic integrity.[2] Sony announced that thefranchise will in turn be rebooted with new director Marc Webb and a new castthat includes Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy andRhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors. The reboot's intention is to have Peter Parkerback to developing his abilities in high school. It is scheduled to be releasedin 3D on July 3, 2012.
