Ni maksud ko utk input web content? Kalau gitu then 'text-based' is type codes (biasanya html codes) terus kedalam file tersebut. Sebagai contoh bila nak boldkan text kena type guna codes cam kat bawah ni:

1. <bold>Bold text</bold>

WYSIWYG - What You See Is What You Get - ni inputkan content tersebut menggunakan Graphical User Interface (GUI)... seperti ko nak bukak new tred kat forum ni... ada interface yg boleh terus click 'B' untuk bold, 'I' untuk italics.

Lebihkurang gitulah.

Yup...sama maksud kalau web editor jugak.

Sebagai contoh, ko guna Notepad utk type in codes - tu text based... then bila dah siap, save as html atau php atau apa2 file yg sesuai ngan codes yg ko guna tadi. Tapi kena tau lah semua codes yg nak digunakan.

Kalau nak WYSIWYG, macam ko guna Dreamweaver nyer WYSIWYG feature. Letak jer image, terus kat 'page' ko, type in text content, highlight text tu, click Bold key...etc. Cara ni senang utk beginner yg tak tau codes sebab software akan codekan utk user tersebut.

Nak citer panjang leh berpage2 ni.

Gini:

text-based:
Advantage: accurate, ada full control nak buat layout etc, boleh guna styles (CSS)
Disadvantages: slow, kena ingat semua codes, susah

WYSIWYG:
Advantages: cepat, senang, takyah tau codes
Disadvantages: Tak accurate sangat layout, takde control sangat, styles masih kena text-based (CSS)

Nak tau camna text based... ko view source page ni... Kalau guna Firefox, kat menu - VIEW > PAGE SOURCE. Text semua tu yg ko nampak kena di type untuk dapatkan semua layout kat page ni... of course images tu kenalah dibuat kat program lain seperti Photoshop gitu and each image di'letak'kan di posisi mana mengikut text codes dalam page ni. Links ke pages lain pun kena di codekan. Berpeluh nak buat text-based tu sebab kena tau semua codes... html codes, color codes dan memacam2 lain codes seperti yg ko leh tengok dalam page source ni.

Yup text-based kena type sendiri... atau pun sesetengah software tu ko boleh click kat GUI dia and akan kuar text-code tersebut secara auto (takyah nak type in satu-persatu huruf2 tu) tapi hasilnya masih text-based.

Yang cam ko kata tu, WYSIWYG akan auto-generate html etc.
