Synopsis -

With a budget of US$80million, "Red Cliff" is the most expensive Asian-financed film to date.
The movie is based on historical records of "The Chronicles of the Three Kingdom" rather than
the novel, "Romance of the Three Kingdom".

In the early third century, the land of Wu is invaded by the warlord Cao Cao and his soldiers.
The ruler of Wu, Sun Quan (Chang Chen), calls on the rival warlord Liu Bei (You Yong) for help
but their two armies are still badly outnumbered.

However, the strategists Zhou Yu (Tony Leung) and Zhuge Liang (Takeshi Kaneshiro) see that
Cao Cao's army is unused to battling on the sea. With 200,000 men, Zhou Yu and Zhuge Liang
defeat Cao Cao's army at the Yangtze River.

memang tertunggu tunggu part 2
dan mesti akan tengok punya.... sebab pelakon best..
cerita best... everything is best --

John Woo says his Chinese epic is transnational

TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP): John Woo said Wednesday that his first Chinese-language film in 16 years will prove that an epic about the Middle Kingdom can appeal to a worldwide audience.

Woo's statement came as he readied an international version of "Red Cliff'' for American distributors. It has already been picked up in Europe and South America.

The $80 million epic, based on an ancient Chinese battle, was split into two installments lasting a combined five hours for Asia. A single movie lasting two hours and 25 minutes has been prepared for audiences elsewhere.

Hong Kong native Woo said he is confident his film will be an international success following the strong Asian box office from the first installment.

"This movie will prove that Chinese historical stories can appeal to an international audience,'' Wu said. "European distributors and critics have praised the film as the grandest epic in recent Chinese history.''

The war epic is set in the Three Kingdoms historical period, about 2,000 years ago.

The first installment of the "Red Cliff'' project - released in Asia in July - earned more than $100 million, including $50 million in Japan and $47 million in mainland China.

The second installment will debut in China on Thursday and across the rest of Asia later this month.

next week cerita ni main --

ni ha - sapa yang suka cerita epic china.. MEMANG best  red cliff ni -
yang first part tu... memang dramatic.. lakonan mantap..
tak sabar nak tunggu part 2 -

depa akan lawan kat air-- tu yang suspence sebab
cao cao terrer kat yangtze river -.. so depa ada buat muslihat
untuk kalahkan ratus2 kapal tu -

ha - mat arof  naru fa stellar dan sekn  - kena tengok ni

general muira hensem dalam IP Man
tapi  kaneishiro pun apa kurangnya - cute hensem
body pun nice... rambut dia lagi saya suka dalam film ni -

a great movie no doubt --
dan nanti lepas tengok akan bagi review --

adalah kungfu.. tapi not kungfu per se macam IP Man...
tapi movie ni memang best sekn...

rent first movie dia... saya bet awak mesti suka film ni
memang interesting dan tak sabar nak tunggu 2nd part ni -

yang best part 'bet' pasal anak panah dan
kepala musuh tu -- memang interesting -

suka sangat tengok muka Zhuge Liang (takeshi kaneshiro)
hensem sangat mamat ni... ishhh just so nice -
lakonan dia pun best -

tony leung is as great as ever -
dan of course PM cao cao (zhang fengyi)
tu memang bagus sangat character nya -

memang tak rugi tengok cerita ni
sapa2 suka epic china macam saya ni -
memang akan enjoy red cliff -

kalau tak tengok lagi red cliff part 1 -
better rent that first... baru best

WE have long wondered how the famous Battle of Red Cliffs would look like if it was ever played out on the big screen.

With hindsight, the first installment of Red Cliff merely served as a prelude to introduce the characters and build up to the final battle, the crux of the story.

Based on history and partly on historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, John Woo had a weighty task bringing a battle to life in Red Cliff II.

Let抯 just say that the US$80 million (RM258 million) production cost hasn抰 gone to waste.
