Super Junior (Korean: 슈퍼주니어;) is a 13 member K-pop boyband. The group initially debuted with 12 memberson November 6, 2005 with their first single, Twins. The original 12members, in age order (from oldest to youngest), were LeeTeuk (theleader), HeeChul, HanKyung, n May 23, 2006 SM Entertainment announcedthe addition of a new member, Cho KyuHyun,being the youngest member.The new 13 membered group released its new look and its newest single Uonline on May 25, 2006. The title song became a success and enjoyed the#1 spot on music programs for the first time in the group抯 caYeSung,KangIn, ShinDong, SungMin, EunHyuk,DongHae, SiWon, RyeoWook, and KiBum.
By the time of the debut,elevenof the members were Korean and one was Chinese. The Chinesemember,HanKyung, was picked among from 3000 applicants throughauditions heldin China by SM Entertainment in 2001. Many of themembers had alreadymade a name for themselves prior to Super Junior抯debut through acting,VJ-ing, and modeling. On May 23, 2006 SMEntertainment announced theaddition of a new member, Cho KyuHyun,making them the 13 member groupthey are today. Before theirofficial debut, Super Junior was already a hot topic over the Internet.News broke about SM Entertainment抯 unprecedented plans offorming alarge 12 member group. Rumors about the identity of themembers as wellas the group抯 name circulated for months.
