Lotus Evora makes world debut
The Lotus Evora was unveiled at the British International Motor Show in London earlier today.
The vehicle, known as Project Eagle before its official launch, is a mid-engined 2+2 sports car that is powered by a Toyota 2GR-FE 3.5l V6 DOHC VVTi block, running with Lotus' own T6e engine management software, offering 276bhp@6,400rpm and [email=342Nm@4,700rpm]342Nm@4,700rpm[/email].

Transmission is a manual six-speed gearbox, also Toyota-sourced, though a close-ratio version of this gearbox is currently undergoing development for the 1,350kg car.
The vehicle features a modular lightweight bonded aluminium structure chassis, an evolution of the Versatile Vehicle Architecture (VVA) from the Lotus APX concept vehicle previously showcased at the Geneva Motor Show. While offering exceptional stiffness of 26,000Nm per degree, the complete chassis (and modules) is light, weighing in at just 200kg.
The interior features bespoke switchgear offering a high level of tactile quality; for example, every metallic-looking component is actually made of metal. There is extensive use of handcrafted, premium leather, with a range of leather colours available for customisation. Even the entry-level versions of the Evora will feature leather-upholstered seats, upper door trim panels and fascia.
Contemporary technology also features in the Evora抯 cabin; the car has a newly-developed Alpine multimedia system with a 7-inch touchscreen and removable hard drive-based satnav.

The Evora will use Bilstein high performance dampers and Eibach springs with unique dual path top mounts for optimised vehicle refinement, while brakes are AP Racing 4-pot callipers tuned by Lotus; the vented and cross-drilled discs measure in at 350mm in front, and 332mm at the rear. ABS is standard on all models, as is Lotus Traction Control (LTC).
The car will also feature tyres developed specifically for it; it will ride on 225/40 ZR18 front and 255/35 ZR19 rear Yokohama rubbers that has a carcass construction and a rubber compound unique to Lotus, and which will be identified by the letters 慙TS |

Kebijaksanaan jurutera Lotus membolehkan enjin Evora jana kuasa maksimum
ANAK syarikat Proton Holdings Bhd, Lotus Cars Limited bakal melancarkan model terbaru yang dijana enjin berkuasa Supercharger dikenali sebagai Evora SC.
Jentera berkenaan yang menggunakan enjin 3.5 L V6 mampu mencapai kuasa sehingga 350 kuasa kuda (hp) akan dipamerkan kepada umum pada Pameran Kereta British.
Kuasa Supercharger mampu menghasilkan tork sehingga 400 Nm yang membolehkan kenderaan itu bergerak daripada kedudukan pegun ke 100 kilometer sejam (km/j) hanya dalam masa kurang lima saat.
Model Evora terdahulu mencatatkan masa 5.5 pada jarak sama.
Lotus Evora adalah ahli keluarga terbaru Lotus selepas pelancaran model Elise kira-kira 13 tahun lalu yang mendapat sambutan menggalakkan daripada peminat kenderaan sport di seluruh dunia.
Kerangka Evora yang dihasilkan 100 peratus aluminium seberat 200 kilogram menjadikan model terbaru itu hanya memiliki berat keseluruhan 1,350 kilogram sahaja.
Ia mampu mencecah kelajuan sehingga 250 km/j dengan kuasa maksimum 276 hp daripada enjin aloi Toyota model 2GR-FE 3.5 L V6.
Kebijaksanaan jurutera Lotus membolehkan enjin terbabit mengeluarkan kuasa maksimum hasil gabungan Unit Kom puter Elektronik (ECU), Lotus T6e.
Evora dijana pacuan roda belakang dengan transmisi enam kelajuan termasuk pengenalan buat pertama kalinya sistem kotak gear Tiptronic.
Penggunaan transmisi Tiptronic adalah hasil daripada reaksi pelanggan di Amerika Syarikat yang mahukan jentera Lotus dibekalkan dengan transmisi berkenaan.
Ciri standard Evora termasuk kerusi salutan kulit, meter tekanan tayar, penyaman udara, beg udara, sistem audio pelbagai Alpine, navigasi dan kamera undur.
Meskipun Evora dikenali sebagai kereta berkuasa tinggi, tahap penggunaan bahan api hanya serendah 10.6 kilometer per liter, menjadikannya jentera bertaraf Supercar paling menjimatkan.

Model Evora S bakal naikkan jualan Lotus

KUALA LUMPUR - Model terbaru kereta Lotus, Evora S yang bakal memasuki pasaran negara pada suku keempat tahun ini dijangka meningkatkan lagi jualan Proton Holdings Bhd., syarikat pegangan Lotus Group International Ltd. (Lotus).
Menurut Pengarah Urusan Proton, Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir, kemasukan model baru itu juga disasarkan bagi mengukuhkan lagi pasaran sedia ada kereta itu.
Jelasnya, kereta sport mewah itu memiliki permintaan yang menggalakkan daripada sekumpulan peminatnya yang tersendiri.
Beliau berkata, sehingga kini syarikat itu mempunyai tiga model Lotus iaitu Elise S, Europa S dan Exige S.
"Kami menyasarkan untuk menjual sekurang- kurangnya 50 hingga 60 unit kereta Lotus setahun.
"Apabila model terbaru Evora S memasuki pasaran, ia dijangka meluaskan penguasaan pasaran kami dalam segmen ini," katanya selepas majlis perasmian Pameran Lotus 2009 di sini semalam. |
