Science: Space probe freezing to death
This computer-generated image distributed by Nasa
shows the spacecraft Ulysses near the Sun.
THE Ulysses solar probe, after 17 years of studying the sun and solar system, is about to die by freezing to death, Nasa and the European Space
Agency said.
The satellite had long outlasted the five-year mission it began in 1990, but it continued to transmit useful data on solar winds. Recently, its plutonium power source had weakened and its fuel was freezing as the probe made a wide circle of the sun, travelling as far as Jupiter.
In January, engineers tried a manoeuvre to heat up the fuel. Their effort backfired and hastened Ulysses |

well Amazed, the bright side of things are that u know they will surely learn the faults and not to repeat the same mistake again. It's the learning process, for something this "big= ( space) " well i think there 's always the room for improvement...kan? |

actually, by right... should learn from the mistakes.. etc.. but then there's no mistake except nature takes precedence.. but i concur with your statement.. it is always a learning process.. |
