Life Made Simple is a 32-episode modernized version of the hit TVBseries "Square Pegs" (2002-2003), which broke TVB's record for highestrated television drama of all time in 2003. It started airing fromOctober 24, 2005 on Hong Kong's TVB Jade Channel. The show won RogerKwok the Best Actor award and Angela Tong the Best Supporting ActressAward in the TVB Anniversary Awards in 2005. At the end of its run thisseries broke TVB's rating record for a TVB series in 2005 with highestsingle night rating of 43pts.

Plot

Theseries is about a man in his mid-thirties who is mentally challenged.He is best friends with a woman called Catherine whom he knows as hiswife since childhood because both of them were playing "House", alittle kid's game, in which they pretend that they are husband and wifeand have a family. He is also looked after by his mother, his fatherleft them thinking that their son is useless. He also has a youngerhalf brother whom he did not know had a crush on Catherine. As bestfriends with an ugly star and living as an innocent being in hiscorrupted company, the man proposed to marry Catherine but out ofdrunkenness. Catherine's friend and she moved into the United Statesbut later went back to Hong Kong to fulfill the promise that thementally challenged man and Catherine made to be together.

Synopsis

AhWong (Roger Kwok) is mentally disabled. When Ah Wong is three, hismother (Lo Yuen Yan) leaves Ah Wong's father (Paul Chun) with Ah Wongafter an incident. She's mad because she thinks her husband doesn'ttake good care of Ah Wong.

Although Ah Wong is mentallydisabled, he's doing ok in society, although he doesn't understand somethings at all. He calls a girl he knows "Lo Por Jai" (Jessica Hsuan),although Lo Por Jai's parents really dislike this, she's ok with it. AhWong met Lo Por Jai when he was Grade.1. Tong Fui Shui (Hui Siu Hung)has taken care of Ah Wong too for all those years Ah Wong's father hasbeen absent. He lives close to Ah Wong and his mother and he has a soupstore. He really likes Ah Wong's mother, but she has no interest inmarriage at all.

Ah Wong is not the only one who doesn't have aneasy life, while he helps Tong Fui Shui with one of his deliveries, hemeets Ho (Angela Tong). Ho is an ugly girl who doesn't have friends atall, Ho and Ah Wong become friends.

Ah Wong meets Chung KamWing, in the beginning they don't know they are actually father andson, later Kam Wing finds out that Ah Wong is actually his son. Hetries to get close to Ah Wong, using all kinds of methods. Kam Wing isalready remarried to someone else, trying to get close to Ah Wong makeshis current wife mad.

Catherine is working for Michael (BoscoWong), Kam Wing's son, Angel (Leila Tong) is working at the same placetoo. There are conflicts caused by Angel at work, because she likesMichael and she just can't stand it that Michael and Catherine likeeach other. The relation between Michael and Catherine is confusing AhWong, he thinks Catherine is really his wife.

Ah Wong tries to work hard in order to marry Catherine / Lo Por Jai for real. --Helen HSuang
