aiseh tak fahamlah soalan...kalau soalan tu bermaksud sama ada vb.net boleh query mana-mana database, jawapan dia ialah ya.kalau database x tu provide odbc driver, sure takde masalah punya.tapi dari segi syntax dan database function, mungkin berbeza sikit antara database x dan database y.

yang mana difikirkan senang

selalunya vb.net digandingkan dengan ms sql server, sebab dua-dua tu microsoft

tapi regardless of any programming language, you can connect to any database provided ada interface di antaranya, seperti ODBC

yes, can support for that..query ..whether embedded or normal stored procedure.
Stored proc is  highly recommended and the most practical way of encapsulate your data layer logic. One of the cool thing is about using its strongly typed dataset.
You can consume any database data provider as well like DB2 etc. but the syntax for its sql statement will slightly differ..no big deal.

cheers.
