actually,
all information are stored in hard disk
each webpage(i.e www.google.com) use their own server(like pc) to store the information |

and how large that hard disk would be? doesn't it require... like tens of football fields to store every single bytes of information? wow.... thats fascinating.....

youtube memang besar .. tapi kalau ko nak simpulkan bahawa semua website ada dalam satu kotak .. tu susah la .. kadang-kadang website dari rumah orang je .. ko pun bleh pancarkan website dari pc ko .. run web server application pas tu .. kasik ip ko kat orang lain .. kalau ko nak www.nama-engko.com .. tu ko bayar la kat domain provider .. depa akan translatekan www.nama-engko.com ke ip ko sekarnag ni .. so orang tak perlu la ingat ip ko ..
kalau storage domain macam youtube tu .. aku rasa ber terra- terra la .. tapi semua tu dah murah dah .. dan sekarang banyak yang boleh buat virtualisation hosting .. hosting dari server merata dunia pelbagai lokasi .. tapi virtualised as macam server berada kat satu tempat |

tak payah cerita youtube, cerita pasal google
Google's services are run on several server farms, each consisting of thousands of low-cost commodity computers running stripped-down versions of Linux. While the company does not provide detailed information about its hardware, a 2006 estimate consisted of over 450,000 servers, racked up in clusters located in data centers around the world.

I think you misunderstood him... the data is NOT kept/stored in a single or a few 'major' supercomputers with super HDD... there's no collective online like that... the data (or web pages, files) are all kept in servers - thousands (if not millions) all over the world. Like this CARI forum is stored here in a server in Malaysia, while another forum is stored in the US. In fact you can even store a site or several sites on your home PC which can be accessible from anywhere in the world (Doing that would be another story which I wont be getting into now). When you open a webpage or try to download something, you'll actually be connecting to that respective server which will then transmit the data to your PC. |
