paling bagus ko beli wireless router
dgn router ko dah tak perlukan sebuah pc utk dijadikan server. semua tugasan tuh router akan takeover.
network diagram die
internet--->modem---->router---->3 bijik pc
kalo ko nak gunakan pc p3 ko sebagai server network diagram die jadi camni
internet---->modem---->pc P3----->hub/switch---->2 bijik pc
ko boleh nampak router tuh ambil tugas pc P3(perlu ada 2 network card) dan hub/switch ko.

yup...betul kata kapakterbang tu. Baik ko amik wireless router.

Aku guna Linksys wireless router kat rumah. Dia boleh connect up to 4 pcs guna cable and lagi 100 wireless. So dalam case ko, ko connect 4 pc ke router tu guna cable ngan laptop tu connect secara wireless. pastu connect router tu ke adsl modem ko guna modem connection port kat router tu. P3 ko tu dah takyah jadi server lagi sebab router tu yg act as server and sesiapa on jer pc dia boleh connect ke net tanpa P3 ko tu on (tapi router AND modem tu kena on lah). Ikut jer installation instructions kat router tu.

Harga router tu rm200+.

kalau nak better data transfer rate, carilah:

1. Belkin Wireless Pre-N router (up to 108 Mbps) or
2. USRobotics Wireless MAXg router (up to 125 Mbps).

Latest, but not recommended yet:
3. Belkin  N1 Wireless router (up to 300 Mbps).

oobi pun tengah terliur jugak tengok belkin n1 tu (ni tengah cari kalau boleh dapat murah, for around USD100). tapi, bila tengok test result, belkin pre-n lagi bagus (oobi pakai yang ni sekarang and sangat puas hati). tahun depan, specs untuk n1 akan keluar. so, it should be much better then.

boleh, if you're local admin. the only way to protect is to encrypt data tu since only the user yang encrypt data tu boleh view. or to disable classic local authentication (you may want to read more on this). or to take the computer off the network.

boleh, dial-up (provided you're talking about your own LAN - not isp). otherwise your only choices are the first two.

dalam computer tu, pergi kat administrative tools and open local security policy. then, security settings, local policies, and security options. kat window pane sebelah kanan, scroll down until you see network access: sharing and security model for local accounts. make sure it's set to guest only. this will prevent even local admin to access admin share (as long as you never touch guest account or assign any password to it).

Linksys WRT54G

tolong ajar sikit cemana nak setup router model ni.

status: modem+routerAztech (free with streamyx).
add router: Linksys WRT54G (function as wireless router)

- 3 komputer, Linux. 3 Laptop, iBook, Acer, DELL (Windows).
- so far, router aztech dah Okey. auto dial.
- skrg nak route ke Linksys aje. tab dia banyak sgt, agak pening dgn interface dia yg tak "user friendly".
- nak setkan WEP sekali = yg ini rasanya dah okey, leh connect ke Linksys dan log on to admin panel via wireless wit h WEP. tapi internet aje yg failed = Linksys takleh sedut internet dari Aztech tu. cemana aaa....

kena guna crossed cable ke... straight cable ke... :hmm:
aku dh baca tutorial dia. tapi jumpa yg aku nak.

connect your linksys router internet/wan port to any aztech port. try regular cable first. then, assign static ip for your linksys wan (if aztech lan ip is 192.168.1.1, make linksys 192.168.1.2) and make your aztech lan ip as linksys gateway. you may want to use the same subnet for all to avoid any issue. also, use different dhcp range for aztech and linksys (to avoid any possible ip conflict). test print from a machine on a router that's not on the same router as your printer.

still not getting th picture... until tomorrow when the router is in front of me... ;)
aniway,,, ko suggest guna static IP atau auto DHCP?

sebab ofis tu selalu dpt customer/supplier yg bawak leptop sndiri utk online.
kalau auto lebih mudah , kan? just enable WEP utk internal office use saja... gitu?

yes, for the computers, use dhcp (on both routers). dhcp is already auto (just need to turn it on or off). manual is static ip. for linksys router, assign static ip (better for troubleshooting purposes).

so, basically it will be like this:

aztech (wan ip from isp, lan ip assign 192.168.1.1) ---> dhcp on (set range 51-100).
linksys (wan ip is aztech lan ip, 192.168.1.1 and lan ip 192.168.1.2) ---> dhcp on (set range 101-200).
set mask 255.255.255.0 on both routers.

so, if you connect computers to aztech router, aztech will dynamically assign ip addresses to those computers (their ip addresses will be in the range of 51-100, like 192.168.1.70) and their gateway will be 192.168.1.1.

if you connect computers to linksys (wired or wireless), linksys will dynamically assign ip addresses to those computers (their ip addresses will be in the range of 101-200, like 192.168.1.135) and their gateway will be 192.168.1.2 (then will be routed to aztech and to the internet).

customers should not have any issue connecting to either routers (provided both routers still have open ports). they won't be able to use wireless though since you're using WEP (only internal office users) unless you inform them of the access code.

aztech tu ada wireless capability ke? by the way, kalau router tu ada WPA, use it instead of WEP.

sometimes, ada router yang ada uplink port. kalau ada port ni, connect linksys wan to this port on aztech. and port ni pun biasanya ada switch where you can make it regular port or cross port (so, tak payah susah-susah cari cross cable, gunakan cable biasa ajer). so, kalau semua settings okay, try play with the switch of this port.

tak perlu. linksys ni kira macam another komputer. treat it as another computer that act as a gateway for other computers.

check this steps one by one:
1. make sure your linksys dns config is the same as your aztech dns config. surf internet. kalau tak boleh, try #2.
2. change linksys status from router to AP. surf internet.
