There have been speculation of LHD type vessels to be developed by Singapore in the local forums. But we`ll have to see.If so, RSN might sell 1 or 2 of the Endurance LPDs.

1) New GMLR+ plus rockets for current and future Himars and MLRS(M270) users;

http://www.lockheedmartin.com/ausa/MFC_GMLRS-2_09_pc.pdf

Formerly known as GMLRS ER i think. Add-ons to current rockets increases range to more than >100 km with precision accuracy. DAGR semi-active laser seeker allows it to hit targets with even better CEPs. GMLRS+ can engage targets from different directions, adjusting its flight path to arrive at the target 'over the shoulder' of the target designator, thus reducing the risk of missing the target or homing in on laser reflections. This is in addition to GPS guidance. Packs of 6 rockets/missiles can be fitted in one Himars launcher.

Current GMLRS rockets hits out to >85 km. Israeli Extra GPS guided precision rockets which are similarly launched from Himars launchers have a range in excess of >130 km. Packs of 4-6 rockets can be fitted in one Himars launcher.

2) HAMMER - Ground Launched Loitering Missile

The missile uses existing MLRS/HIMARS launchers, each loading one (HIMARS) or two (M270) six-pack containers.

The missile can cover a range of 200-500 km guided by on-board GPS/INS navigation unit.

Forgot to add. GMLRS+currently being tested with the ability to shoot even moving targets from 100+ at the cheap cost of rockets. Probably milimeterwave...

Locally-developed military innovations unveiled
By Dylan Loh, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 30 October 2009 2103 hrs

SINGAPORE: Some of the latest military innovations were unveiled on Friday at the Defence Technology Prize ceremony.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean gave out prizes to the winners at the Biopolis at One-North in Buona Vista.

The award recognises contributions that have helped enhance Singapore's defence capability. Two individuals and five teams received the award this year.

One of the military innovations, the Trailblazer, is a homegrown armoured vehicle used to clear landmines with speed, efficiency and safety.

"What is important is that we must make sure it is safe for use by the crew, in terms of the mine-protected cabin that we designed," said Roger Lim, programme manager (Land Systems), Defence Science and Technology Agency.

He added the vehicle had to be fully tested and "proven" before it is introduced into the service.

The Skyblade 3 is another example of a homegrown hardware, tailored for Singapore's defence needs.

It is an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, which acts as a pair of flying binoculars for reconnaissance and surveillance missions. It is portable enough to be carried by troops into the battlefield.

The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) said locally-developed systems have several advantages.

"By developing systems on our own - the fact that we go through the process of developing it, we end up understanding the system a lot more. We know its capabilities, we know its limitations. We know what needs to be done to improve it," said Quek Tong Boon, chief defence scientist, Ministry of Defence, Singapore.

MINDEF also said Singapore aims to be a leader in the application of defence technologies, with such locally-developed military platforms.

Boeing: Singapore bought 20 CH-47SDs Chinooks not too long ago.
Together with the still very new earlier CH-Ds purchased, RSAF probably operates between 20-30 Chinooks in total.

Boeing Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) plans to offer its CH-47F Chinook in response to an Indian air force requirement for 12 medium- to heavy-lift helicopters expected to be released in the first quarter of 2008.

Boeing's bid will emphasize the CH-47F's high-altitude and lift capability in hot conditions, which will be required for the austere flying environment in India, according to Chuck Allen, Boeing's vice president and general manager for rotorcraft systems.

Allen said he expects a cost advantage, as "we have built a brand new Chinook for almost the same cost."

India is said to have inquired about the Chinook's refueling facility, lift capacity for high/hot conditions, capability and production schedule.

"We want to determine a timeline from the Indian air force as this will enable us to reserve slots in the production line for India," Allen said.

The company has firm commitments until 2017 and expects them to be extended to 2030, when the Chinook will have been in service for 70 years.

Singapore purchased 20 CH-47SDs - a special configuration - a few years ago. "The cheapest, simplest version to buy is the CH-47F," Allen said.

Boeing IDS is looking at co-producing parts of the Chinook in India to partially fulfill the 50 percent offset obligations that will be required if the company wins India's 126-aircraft Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) program, for which the request for proposals (RFP) was issued recently (DAILY, Aug. 29).

The company already has signed agreements with L&T, Wipro, Tata Power and Indian Institute for Science and will be looking to source aircraft parts, including hydraulics and machining. Boeing is offering its F/A-18E/F for the MMRCA.
